About our Defense.

1. Out of position all night long
2. Over pursuit all nite long
3. HORRIBLE tackling

I cannot believe we didn't adjust at halftime. We were out of position and looked lost all nite. Our LB's seemed to be confused and our DB's were not even sure they were in the correct stadium. Over pursuing against a fast team is the death nail. I have not seen UT defense play this bad since the 95 game against Florida. I'm very disappointed.

Add no sacks and no pressures to your list and I would call it complete.

Beef, I am disappointed as well. This team has always been able to count on Dan Brooks developing one or two Dlinemen every year. This year it just doesn't look like he is going to get it done. That is the worst sign of all. Of all the coaches on staff, Brooks has always been Mr. Dependable.

All kidding and CPF jokes aside, what practical solutions are there for this team? It is hard to imagine waking up next Saturday morning, and all of the sudden having defensive lineman and DEs ready to play SEC football.

You guys were just keeping your defense packages vanilla so as not to tip off Southern Miss. You shook the rust off and things will look much better next week.

Even the "strength" of our defense the LB's were out of place and over pursued to the point that often they were not even close to the play when it ended.
Since you cannot sign free agents I have no idea what the solution is. I know this, if we don't come up with something this will be a very long season.

I made it a point to watch Ryan Karl last night. I counted four times that he was taken out of a play by a WR, and at least once with a running back. He is too easy to block.

For misdirection teams like Air Force, Cal and Florida, I think that a base defense with few blitzes is certainly the way to go. Pick a lane and stay in it.

The problem really is in the DL. The backers are getting way too many helmets on them right now.

He is too small for a linebacker. He must be smart i can think of no other reason he should be playing linebacker for us.I thought the same thing last year. After last night it just confirmed it.
