I watched the press conference after the game and Butch made a statement that this is the first time since the early 90's that TN has won 3 bowls in a row. I had not really noticed this fact before the game.

I hope this leads to some of the better (read *) players come our way during signing day.

GBO!

Impressive prep by staff to get this done. Wanted to beat the Huskers for 20 years. Want Penn State next. Hats off to Nebraska as they had key players out and played a very competitive game. Hats off to Vols who had to patch together a new defense multiple times during the season. Both teams are 9-4 which is decent in today's game. Most definitely the bowl wins are a boost for recruiting. Let's see if the staff can pull some steals heading into signing day.

1970/1971/1972 Battle (Sugar/Liberty/Bluebonnet)

1985/1986/1987 Majors
(Sugar/Liberty/Peach)

1994/1995/1996 Fulmer
(Gator/Citrus/Citrus)

2014/2015/2016 Jones
(TaxSlayer/Outback/Music City)

Majors has 5 consecutive bowl WINS... but not in consecutive seasons. TN did not go bowling in 1988 but Majors won in 5 consecutive bowl appearances: 1985/1986/1987/1989/1990.

Based on CBJ's bowl record, I propose that we hang this schedule in his office for next year -

9.4 Opener Bowl v. Georgia Tech
9.9 Little Indiana Bowl v. Indiana St
9.16 Swamp Lizard Bowl v. Florida
9.23 Mass-ive Bowl v. UMass
9.30 Border Bowl v. Georgia
10.14 Steve Spurrier Memorial Bowl v. South Carolina
10.21 Third Saturday In October Bowl v. Alabama
10.28 Bourbon Bowl v. Kentucky
11.4 Welcome Back Alumni Bowl v. Southern Miss
11.11 Mississippi River Bowl v. Missouri
11.18 Crawdad Bowl v. LSU
11.25 We Gon' (Better) Kick They Ass Bowl v. Vanderblit

Think this strategy would help?

I was upset after the SC, and turned to the nega side of the force after the Candy game and lost all hope in Butch, but I'll be honest, for someone who can only remember no earlier than the 2002 season and has had his team kicked to death since 08, I would have given anything to have back to back 9 win seasons and 3 straight bowl wins.

Overall the big ten sucks and the teams we play from the big 10 are slowwwwwwwwwwwww. Wins are good !

Near as I can tell, there are maybe two Big Ten Teams with speed equal to or better than ours: Michigan and Ohio State. Everyone else is running in mud.

Disappointing season, but the program is definitely improved

Butch most resembles Majors as a coach. Both rebuilt the program and both struggle with the media at times. Both are the only UT coaches to beat UF and Georgia in the same season and not make it to the SECCG.
