One question I had was who will go in when McCullers comes out and we stay in a 3-4. Couch and Hood have the most experience, which leads me to think Couch stays at DT instead of playing DE.

Also, I read some time after spring practice that Greg Clark actually did pretty well in the spring. It'll be interesting to see if he and Carson can be significant contributors this fall.

Jack = Clay Matthews
WDE = Jason Pierre-Paul

JMO

Lol at Clay Matthews being a Jack. Nick Saban is the only coach I've heard using a Jack on outside. When Mike Nolan was at the 49ers, he had his jack play in the middle. When I first heard the term jack used in 2005-2006, it referred to the linebacker beside the mike that would go jam the running lane that is open. If it has changed, I would love to know.

Green Bay doesnt use a jack because the responsiblities of UT's jack and Clay Matthews are quite different. There are many styles of the 3-4, and all of them have different names for their positions.

So what is Clay Matthews then?

NMT looked decent at the end of last year...hopefully he can give some good snaps this year...

I'd love to see King healthy and back tI his pre-injury form but I'll believe that only when I see it

Had a class with King in the spring and we talked a bit. He said he was finally feeling back close to 100%, moving better, faster and stronger than he's been since arriving. I think he led one of the spring practices with 7 tackles as well.

I agree, both with wanting him to be back and believing it when I see it, but he's a good kid and I'd love to see him do well.

I feel like that's Jacque Smith behind DY, bu I could be mistaken. The photo is somewhat pixelated on my phone.

Thanx, I thought that was him. Tino looks short next to Mac and he's a pretty tall db

Since this has brought up. Does anybody feel we have more advantage with the 3-4.

Based on the players we have on the DL & LB corps, yes..it's just going to take time to transition.

If Wilcox had run more 3-4 over the last 2 years, I think this team would take a near quantum leap this year...in terms of the first string anyway.

Its once you get past the first line that things start getting a little iffy...

EDIT: Holy crap...did I just reply to a post that's over 5 months old??? I thought this was a new thread. :eek:hmy:

RE- Sentimore(Trent Taylor) NT- McCullers LE- Couch(Marlon Walls) OLB- Maggitt ILB- Lathers ILB- A.J. Johnson OLB- Jacques Smith.

I could also see Brent Brewer coming down and playing in the box some. Not a lot but some. I can also see Mo Couch move to NT along with Hood when McCullers needs a break.

Then I could see Corey Miller come in and give some good time. Another player I see getting time would be Willie Bohannon. JMO

Corey Miller has they Physical tools to play Jack Linebacker. I would be surprised to see Couch playing DE when we need depth at NT with this being BigMac's first SEC season.

Front 3 this year will likely be some mix of these guys:

DE Couch / Miller / Fowlkes / Taylor

NT McCullers / Hood / Clark / Carson

DE Sentimore / Walls / Williams / Saulsberry

Williams probably gets PT at LB
