Can someone help me out with this? I'm no sure who plays where in the new defense...

Apparently Smith and Bohanon would be LBs and Couch would be a DE...is this right?

A depth chart with the new, 3-4 positions would be appreciated

TIA

McCullers, Sentimore, Couch will more than likely be the d-line with Maggitt, Lathers, AJ, and Jacques as the linebackers. Corey Miller, Saulsberry, Walls, and Trent Taylor will probably get action at end as backups. Allan Carson and Daniel Hood will fight it out for backup NT. I could see Couch and O'Brien possibly playing nose in certain situations as well.
At backup linebacker, your guess for the most part is probably as good as mine. Jordan Williams will probably get a lot of playing time backing up Jacques and Curt on the outside. (If he doesn't straight-up beat out Jacques for a starting spot)

Anybody have updated weights for the players? Would like to know how big J. Williams and others are and would help get an idea of where they might fit in the defense next year.

This on your last sentence... Jacques is in danger if he doesn't produce .. I hope he finally blows up against nc state

Bohannon at OLB too. ILB backups I'm not so sure. Propst? Can Mitchell-Thornton finally see the field? Can Greg King get/stay healthy?

NMT looked decent at the end of last year...hopefully he can give some good snaps this year...

I'd love to see King healthy and back tI his pre-injury form but I'll believe that only when I see it

Four guys isn't depth plus none of those other guys will play Maggitt's position.

We have more depth at OLB than probably any other position on D... In 2012 for UT I would consider that depth... would that be depth for Texas or UA...no...

So what I'm gathering is this...and this is not a depth chart this is just a listing of players at each position...

WDE: Sentimore, Walls/Miller, Williams, Taylor
NT: McCullers, Hood, Carson
SDE: Couch, Walls/Miller, Saulsberry, O'Brien
JLB: Smith, Bohanon, Williams, Lewis
MLB: Johnson, NMT, Propst
MLB: Lathers, Harris, King
OLB: Maggitt, Lathers, Crump, Sapp

Seems legit. Couch will probably factor in at NT situationally too.

I think it's clear that King, Lathers, Harris and NMT will be very important players for us...

I think all four have the physical ability to be at least effective players for us if not more...the health and effectiveness of each player will go a long way in determinIng how good our D is next year

what i found interesting is that
1) justin king is listed as a ath not a lb but will be a lb at UT.
2) latroy lewis listed as a d lineman but will be a lb at UT
3) kenneth bynum is listed at 213 but last i read he is at least 220
TIFWIW

however i think the front 3 will be:
ENDS: couch and sentimore/walls, ayers, miller, & williams reserves
NT: mccullers/hood 2nd string
LBs:aj and maggitt definetly. lathers(if heathly)and then its up for grabs. king is good when healthy, j. smith, c. harris

I thought CDD and CSS both said the Vols would be multiple mostly out of a 4-3 D and maybe run some 3-4. I truly dont see CSS wholesale changing the D in year one as it tkes alot of time to implement a whole new defense... I believe multiple out of a base 40 will be a main look early on.. :wavey:

Honsestly, I like Sapp some behind Maggit. Some will call me crazy, but I think his tools fit the position well.
