IF Kiffin can do the unthinkable and actually win at FLA this year, what is the final record of the Vols?

I think 11-3, with losses to Bama, SECCG, and bowl depending on the opponent.

I am not sure they could win 10 games. The offense isn't ready yet, but the defense looks strong. I would have to think that they will probably win 8 and get a bowl game. However, this fall could surprise us a bit if the offensive players pickup the system better. I do think that FL is very cocky and they feel they can't be beat by anyone. Urban is changing the offense though, they will play with Tebow under center more in an attempt to get his draft status higher, this may work well for us, but at half time, if the game is close, I expect Urban to switch back to the full spread and try to win that way. Not sure we have the players yet to stop it or outscore them.

As much as anyone hates the Gators in here; Florida is bringing back all 11 of their defensive starters from last year. Their offense will already be a task for us to stop, they're going to run the score up on us whether or not you wanna hear that.

Anything can happen.
And if by some miricle we do beat the gators theyd prolly reveiw the game and find some flaw and reward the W to the higher ranking.

Florida won't be as offensively explosive as they were last year. Harvin was that good. The games he didn't play, there was a significant drop off.

Their defense alone is good enough to beat the tar out of our team... You never really know though.

You make a good point, I don't think they will be near as explosive when we play them, but I will say that as good as Harvin is and as good as he was he won't be hard for Urban Meyer to replace, they are just too deep

My rationale for why UT beats Fla:
1) UT's secondary will be elite. Teams will be stupid to attack us with the pass. Meyer, as much as i loathe him, is not stupid. He will attack us with the run.
2) Crompton is garbage. Thus, we will not be attacking Fla with the pass. Rather, the run.
3) Thus, it will be running game vs. running game.
4) We have better running backs then they do
5) We win.

Yes, I am homer. But that's my logic and I'm sticking to it.

If,being the biggest word in the dictionary. If he gets to 3-0.Why stop their,Another national Championship maybe at hand.

If this team beats Florida the confidence level of the players goes through the roof.

13-0

I see this year as a tough one to swallow. I believe that UT will basically beat teams they should and lose to teams they should. They may upset Ole Miss but they may lose to UCLA, who knows? I would be happy with 8-4 and a music city appearence.

I think our defense can certainly slow down Florida. As far as our special teams, as long as we kick away from Brandon James (what a novel idea!), we'd only be a little behind in that category. The big problem I see is our offense against their veteran defense. I think Florida wins the game, and maybe blows it open because of that side of the ball.

Yeah, this was a pretty obvious post.

Best case scenario 10-2. Worst case 8-4 as I see it. With 3 of the first 4 against WKU, UCLA and Ohio that should give the offense time to find some rhythm though UCLA is no easy out as we realized last year. Should be 3-1 with a very winnable Auburn coming to town. At 4-1, confidence should be rather high and an upset of UGAly is possible. USCjr and Ole Miss aren't gimmes but I think we they can be had IF we get some offensive rhythm going which basically means Cregg and Chaney need to get the line into beast mode and just pound the rock with MH and BB all day.

8-9 wins seems to be the consensus on this board and I would have to agree. now if by chance Crompton comes around (or Stephens) then that changes things to 10-11 wins. Even at that, I think Fla and Bama are losses and UGA is a possibility

i'll just keep saying it, 8+ wins this year and we should throw a party. we're far more likley to wind up in the 7-8 win category when you take our offensive issues in to account.

For those of you out there in VN land who have been telling me that the majority of your fans are realistic about this year, allow me to point ot this thread say, what the ....?

8 is what I'm thinking based on the schedule alone, with some solid O line and QB play 9 or even 10 is attainable. On the other hand if the O line and QB play is horrid 7 may be all we can muster, with 6 or even 5 a real possibilities.

I guess most of you, LG included, missed the big IF I posted. Don't know how I could have made it more clear. In reality, we are looking at 7-8 wins this year. It's still fun to think about though.
