2nd part of my Spring Injuries thread.

I know this is a hard statement, but. Tuttle an Kmac have added very little to the production of this team due to injuries. To expect more than this from them is "reaching". The thing to do is move on and if they can produce that's more the better. But just expect the same and be surprised if they can improve as to health and (this is the big one) stay that way long enough to get enough playing and practice time to become the players we thought they would be.

Their limited contributions probably stem from having to start right away as true freshmen (or cheap shot blocking technique).
That's a tough task in the SEC as you probably need to be 'man-strong' against 21-23 year old competition that have been in strength and conditioning programs for years.

Neither started as a true freshman...or sophomores for that matter. If KMac was the player we thought we were getting, if he were living up to his rating/expectations, he'd have started and had big impact in each of his first 2 seasons. Hopefully his last 2 seasons at Tennessee are much, much better and impactful than his first two. We need him to be very good.

Who cares if we have enough DTs for spring. We have a new strength coach and 2 dts will be back this summer in Kmac and Vickers.

Let's some other big bodies take the wear and tear and learn to play like Johnson, Bain and others. Can Never get too many reps when you haven't started a game yet.

I have a lot of faith in the S&C program this year. NFL guys don't get hired for those jobs for nothing.

I think we keep Tuttle on the sidelines until at LEAST SEC play, but a redshirt isn't a terrible idea, he is a monster and I would like for him to survive a whole year healthy.

Edit: we could play some 3-3-5 this spring a little bit to get some athletes on the field after the QB. I don't suggest a 3man front much this season, but with people getting healthy and a few more inside linemen coming this summer from recruits, we should be serviceable, remember Hoke can coach up the big fellas

Nobody does (or at least should) care about DTs for Spring. Question is who's available and ready for Fall. We badly need all hands on deck and if Tuttle can't go and if KMac isn't ready due to the torn pec last October/lack of time in the training room, then we're in trouble at DT unless someone(s) we're not counting on steps in and plays very good football.

Hunch? Gut feeling? Guess?

When we had Shy and Kmac clogging up the middle, Barnett and Vereen made more plays because they had more time to close in and less gashes up the middle. The LBs and Safety also had an extra half a second or more to close in on the interior runs.

Vickers was much better at the end of the season but we need 6 or more DTs to keep them from being gassed.

I am not 100%, but I believe I read somewhere that Kongbo is moving back to DE. Believe he lost that extra weight and is moving back to outside.

Did they really? App State had a 100 yard rusher, Georgia ran for nearly 200 yards, TAM ran for 350+, Alabama ran over, through and around us.....we had both KMac and Tuttle for all those games minus Tuttle vs App State a half for KMac vs Bama.

Now, we got steadily worse to the point of God awful the longer the season went on, after both Shy and KMac were injured and out, I'll give you that. But it's a misnomer to say that KMac and Tuttle were clogging up the middle and suggest they were helping shut down the run at any point in the season.
