26 years in a row! Even as a Vol fan it seems a bit ridiculous

I just cannot help but wonder how much of this is psychological with KY. Especially over the last few years with us being at our most vulnerable and with KY having arguably the most talent they've had since probably Bear Bryant coached there. Even I as a Vol fan cannot help but be amazed at how many different ways KY finds to lose to us.

Most of the time, it isn't hard to beat them. The last few years might have been mental, but usually, we're just a much better team.

Maybe since it got to 20,yes..I watched Peyton and Tee and Casey Clausen beat them to a psychological pulp for 10 years before that though..

Yes I know. I suppose I was just thinking of the last 5 or 6 years. In 2005 we lost to Wyoming for God's sake! Fulmer was on his way out and the team's morale was at an all time low. I just knew we were done for against KY. Then last year KY was literally a short field goal away from beating us. Nope, they missed it. This year we were the thinnest, most talent depleted we've been since before Johnny Majors took over the program and they had a pretty solid, pretty talented team and yet they STILL could not beat us. I swear sometimes it feels like it's destiny or something,

If Kensucky did not beat us this year, it will likely be another 26 in a row.

Sooner or later, it is bound to happen. Statistically, sooner or later, they have to win the game. I just hope it does not bite us when it matters.

They lost before they ever took the field in their uniforms. Prior to the game, several players in warm-ups walked down to the endzone and stood there. One of them touched an orange square like he wasn't sure what it was gonna feel like. They were not disrespectful at all. It just seemed like they were .... I don't even know what to call it. I wouldn't use the word awe, but it was a similar emotion maybe. Then three players came down to the same endzone, touched the goal post in front of Tennessee's tunnel, and looked like they were trying to tell it something. (I did kinda laugh at that point.) I don't know if they were casting a spell, putting a hex on it, whispering sweet nothings or what. But it was kinda bizarre.

Anyway, all that to say....it didn't look like they were coming to play a football game.

I think yesterday a big portion was mental. When they fumbled on the goal line, it was like they said crap we are kentucky and they are tennessee, this always happens.

It's not like Kentucky is THAT bad, either. It's crazy.
That's maybe been true in the past 5 years or so, but before that . . . yes, they were THAT bad. I'll bet they haven't gotten to 6 wins more than about 7-8 times in the past 30 years.

Excellent observation. The "T" on the side of the helmet still meant something to the last 4 teams on the schedule . . . and I think it played a factor in us being able to play with South Carolina as well.

That is the part that scares me. It's gotten to the point to where as a Vol fan, I feel more threatened by the law of averages than I do KY's football team.

That's pretty much what happened with the Vanderbilt streak. We finally had a down year and ran into a hot QB.

If tiger high can beat us with Peyton and a roster full of NFL players then KY eventually can also.

But if they could not get it done this year, wow, does not give their fans much hope.

Yeah honestly, deep down I really thought this was their year. With us being so vulnerable and them having a pretty darn good team along with a by-week to rest and prepare, yeah I thought this was the year the streak ended.

Had they caught us earlier in the year they likely would have beat us. I think we went from a team around 50 th in the country to one that is currently imo around 15 th to 20 th.

A new more accurate qb who moves well in the pocket, finds secondary receivers and has a big arm helps, but all the freshmen grew as the year progressed, the coaches tweaked the lineup on both sides of the ball. It we were playing teams like Florida and LSU right now I believe we beat them just as badly as we beat Ky yesterday.

I think that we have better coaches than probably everyone except possibly Alabama so Kentucky was a victim of our changing fortunes and timing.

They play us the week we played UAB and they beat us by 14.

Eventually they'll beat us and probably when we least expect it. May not be until Bray gets out of here though. I don't know how much they lose off this years team , but i'd say they'll have a chance next year, although Tennessee should be a much better squad. Still doesn't guarantee anything. 26 is nice, enjoy it for now.

Kentucky fans think every year is their year. They never learn. Listen these Wildcat fans can't understand why they can't beat us. They say the program can't move forward until they beat us. I guess they think the SEC should give them the win for showing up like the GOV'T gives them a free check. They talk about being better than us, yet they get their feelings hurt every year. What I find odd is the fans think Kentucky is more superior in every way than Tennessee. Maybe that was true in basketball, but with Bruce Pearl, KY will not have that either. The players and the fans, in their posts and in their minds, had assumed the win before they played the game. The arrogance of KY fans, too funny. They deserve this loss for not being humble before the football gods.

They need to focus on basketball. If they think they're superior in any way in football then they're just as dumb as they make themselves out to be. 0-26 screams superiority:crazy:

It's crazy.....they haven't had teams that aren't talented....it's got to be a mental thing

Sort of like Memphis did. I think we were ranked like 5th or 6th in the country. That loss ended up being the cause of Spurriers famous "You can't spell Citrus without UT" statement.

funny you mention this, because before this play happened, the 3 UK fans sitting behind us were loud and proud.

After that fumble, they said, well, here we go again.... and immediately their tone changed, and they weren't talking about the good things UK was doing, but instead complaining about the bad things they were doing.
