Brimfield is on campus, he's good to go. Melancon has a shot at prep school, hopefully that's where he'll end up and not lose any eligibility.

It is good to hear that Brimfield got through, I think he is like Justin Harrell. Also, Rogan is a baller, he would have been rated 4 stars if not for academics.

Please enlighten me , I didn't know that academics was considered in ratings. So can a 2 star player be a better football player than a 4 star ,but he is a 2 star because of grades and whether he plays 3A or 5A football ?

Defensive lineman Rolando Melacon is the third member of Tennessee’s 2007 signing class headed to junior college.
Melancon of Lutcher (La.) High School is enrolled at City College of San Francisco.
The 6-foot-1, 260-pound Melancon, reached be telephone Tuesday, said he was initially disappointed to have to take a two-year detour, but that he intends to use his time there to get faster and stronger.
Alcoa defensive end Rae Sykes is expected to enroll at Coffeyville (Kan.) Community College, while Chattanooga defensive end Cory Hall will attend Northwestern Mississippi Junior College.
As of Monday, Tennessee had 25 of its 32 signees on campus attending summer school.
The Vols have just two scholarships remaining for three signees who have yet to enroll.
Defensive back C.J. Fleming (Highland Springs, Va.), defensive end Rufus Williams (Mims, Fla.) and tailback Dennis Rogan (Fulton) are the three remaining signees.
According to Fulton coach Buck Coatney, Rogan has already been approved by the NCAA’s academic clearinghouse.
Melancon, who said he intends to attend UT after his two years in California, joins something of a UT pipeline at City College of San Francisco.
UT signee Kenny O’Neal spent two years there after leaving Florida State.
Former players Albert Toeaina and Gibril Wilson also attended City College before transferring to Tennessee.
O.J. Simpson played two years at CCSF before transferring to Southern Cal in 1967.

Yes. A good example would be Cory Hall.

If Rufus Williams doesn't make it in, noone will greyshirt. If he makes it in, prolly a local kid like Maples.

Prolly not. He may be good but he wouldn't jump over Langley and Langley could still be behind Mapu, Bolden, Williams, Fisher, Thomas, and Nelson since he is a freshman. It is amazing though that almost everyone of the players that didn't qualify from this past class were DL. Barnes may have been the only one that wasn't a DL.

if your were giving odds on Rufus getting in what would they be? I just feel strongly that we need a guy named Rufus on our team.

So is CJ definitely in? I keep reading where Rufus isn't going to make it so we should be good.

Not looking good on Rufus. I'd guess prep school right now which isn't a bad thing since we will just get him back next year(ala Vinson).

sometimes prep school is a great answer since they get to play so much more. As a redshirt they may learn our system, but reps would be in short supply

Well our class maybe isn't quite as high as Florida's, but it's defidently better than Southern Cal's. Just look at the numbers. USC had 18 signees. UT had 32. So. Cal had one more 5 star than us, but we had 1 more 4 star and 13!!! more 3 stars. How in the world does 1 5 star recruit outweigh 13 three star recruits and 1 four star? The reason? The avg. stars used by rivals puts USC ahead of us. And maybe we are closer to Florida's class than most think. We have 1 more 5 star than their class. they have 5 more 4 star players, but we also have 8 more 3 star players. So maybe we deserve a little more credit than we got for our class, but then again our class is being used in the same breath as a team that won a championship, a team that is consensus number 1, and we finished ahead of LSU, who is ranked as highly as preseason number 2. It's underrated, and undeserved: what more could you ask for?

It's hard to say with ranking recruiting classes, I could care less about them as the summer goes on, but while the signing periods are hot it's fun to watch and see how we are doing, because it's football related and I really have nothing else to do.

Next year when they rank the freshman all Americans then we can really tell who had the best class, until then, it's just ammo for forum smack talk.

Vinson and ONeil are fast, Willingham was a ball hawk in juco and McKenzie will knock your head off. Hopefully they will all be ready to play Sept 1
