I agree with this, every fan base makes huge assumptions after watching the opening game. Whether, it’s oh no, we suck again, or by definition, we are going to win em all by beating the 323rd best team named blah blah state 53-6 (fla fans). The first game is a starting point, not the finish line and you can’t judge the whole season on one game. UT will look totally different by the last game.

Will Grier made an early-season Heisman statement. Against Tennessee, Grier threw for 429 yards and five touchdowns in a 40-14 win by the No. 17 Mountaineers. It’s an impressive win. But it’s also going to be blown out of proportion. This Volunteer team is more akin to last season’s 4-8 group than to the program’s contenders of the past. Jeremey Pruitt inherited a program with plenty of problems, including a leaky defense, which Grier lit up. West Virginia still must prove it can defend against an elite offense, and Tennessee is far from that. By the way, Jarrett Guarantano had a pretty good day at 19 of 25 for 172 yards and touchdown. In the Big 12, West Virginia is going to face seven or eight quarterbacks better than him.
