Yeah, he would basically seem to be a Cade Phillips replacement.

Freshman are a great way to fill out a back end of a roster now, I would be signing 4-5 every year, if you really like 1 or 2 keep em’ around. But they’re considerably cheaper than portal adds, makes budgeting easier and plausible to actually have 12-13 on roster.

A three or even four star freshman would be smart to start off at a mid-major and work his way up the latter. Getting burried on somebodies depth chart is not idea.

I’m with you, and some are doing it, but vast majority still don’t think that way.

Interesting concept. How much less $ should this freshman take to play at the mid-major? Is he going to improve more at the mid-major or in a well funded program like UT?

Its kind of the "bet on yourself" concept. Go dominate mid-major for a year, then be worth $2-3 mil on the open market. See Terrence Hill Jr. (among others).
