2026 Lady Vols Recruiting

Interesting how there have been so few commits so far among this entire top 100. For years, many if not most had already made a verbal commit by summer. I wonder if all the different elements involved with NIL has led the players to be hesitant to commit early. I doubt if agents encourage early signings, as it would be easy for them to keep pursuing a better deal down road. Honestly, I prefer them not committing early than the many football players that do and then back off their verbal commitments later on due to NIL offered by a competitor.
NIL negotiations: An emerging art.

Agreed. I also think the transfer portal dominating late spring/early summer recruiting has pushed back the high school commitment timeline.

L. Bell did not make the list, a late riser , not a criticism just the reality of 100 person list. the stories from the U-16 team tryouts 46 then cut to 20ish and then select in three days. all before they play their senior year in high school.

And add a player on the LV roster -three or four years on the team who has limited playing time and GULE will be with his familiar -FREE { that player)

Now #61

The entire list looks like were have a 15 percent chance with Edwards according to them . Looks like Southern California is the favorite according to them. Looks like Edwards, Crittendon, and Jones are the three we have a shot at over all the others. Were not even listed with Harpring kind of amazed Vandy is listed as her first choice.

Not that worried about 2026 would like to get a couple of players if not then we will go portal strong unless that fifth year is passed and the would virtually bring back our entire team.

I don’t worry about players about 20 and lower. I would highly value adding a top five talent though.

These social media analysts don’t have any idea where players will sign. They base their info on secondhand info.
At this stage, I would definitely stop posting their content but that’s just me.
Since Coach Caldwell and her new staff arrived they (social media analysts) haven’t known anything or had a single lead to get inside info prior to several highly ranked players committing to the Lady Vols. These analysts have been wrong about Tennessee’s 2025 portal class, 2025 high school class and the 2026 portal class.
If the staff can build a core through recruiting and signing 6 McDAAs (Barker, Wolfenbarger, Whitehorn, Civil, Prawl, and Mia Pauldo) & 4 four- stars (Latham, Spearman, Hurst, and Mya Pauldo) in one year they won’t have an issues signing the players they consider the top targets for their program in 2026.
This is in addition to the 7th McDAA on the roster Talaysia Cooper, Nya Robertson, and 4-Star Kaniya Boyd.
I’m not discrediting the players in the 2026 class, I’ll say that if anyone thinks Tennessee needs a particular player from this class they’ve been misled.

If a player is in the Top 20, they could indeed be a top 5 talent.
Rankings in high school sports aren’t stable or consistent enough to analyze the difference between a player ranked 5 and a player ranked 15.
It’s plenty top 5 bust across collegiate sports.

And I’ll add, nobody outside of Coach Caldwell, her recruiting coordinators Tubner & Lazo in addition to coaches Burdette, Berrier, and Rizor have a clue about what their plan is for the 2026 class.
Coach Caldwell has said before that she does not base her recruiting decisions on individual player rankings.
So I highly doubt that the main priority is focusing on any player based on recruiting service projections out of HS.
The main factor will likely be fit and players with the ability to excel offensively and defensively in her system which is centered on positionless basketball.
I also would point out that CKC has added the #1 transfer portal class and #1/#2 HS recruiting class in one year.
Following her first portal class that features multiple highly ranked players from HS and collegiate starters.
CKC has built a roster that is tailored to play a style of basketball that will innovate WBB.
It’s a game changer. Turn on the TV and watch the NBA finals featuring OKC and Indiana. That’s the brand of basketball that CKC has built in one year.
Unforeseen and changing the landscape of WBB at the most historic women’s basketball program of all-time.

in support of KLU: will the growing interest in women's basketball significantly increase the home attendance AND the individual NIL deals with players, and the sponsoring ads within the stadium. Social media is full of clickbait articles re the WNBA - not that I care about the articles but they show interest. summary: the changing ingredients of college basketball benefits the LVs in recruiting in
2025-26 and beyond.

I don't think those projection percentages are updated/accurate.

I'm thinking that IF there's notable improvement in the play of our returners, and if by conference tourney time our freshmen are playing like they belong in the SEC...

I think we'll have our choice of players, both high school and from the portal.

Further proof that we can develop players individually will trump offers of higher NIL (or whatever they will be calling it a year from now).

This season’s results likely have more impact on 2027 and portals. Most 2026 decisions will be made before the 25/26 season fully plays out.

True. Or should be true.
But I wonder how permanent a "decision" is nowadays?
We all know that all decisions now of every player is for one season. Every last player that is on our roster that has eligibility could be somewhere else after next season. Every player signing and sticking with a team is for one season for at least half of them. That is why coaches are going to need to not go to wild on signing freshmen into one class cause you are going to need some of those scholarships for the portal. We were lucky that was going to get any real playing time left. We have a roster of 14 next season can't play them all so I would look for three of four to leave after the season is over just the way it is going to be from now on.

Why I not to hung up on how we do with any freshman class getting a couple would be perfect cause half of the 2025's will be in the portal looking for a home. So the new recruiting is half and half.

I'm eager to see how we (with our system of play) compare with the average on players lost to portal. I think we should do much better than most in that regard, unless we just have some drastic underperformers whose play or attitude "opens a spot in the roster."
