2026 recruiting

Naw South Carolina recruited multiple 2025 elite recruits hard including McDonald All-Americans Jaida Civil and Deniya Prawl who instead committed to Coach Caldwell following the elite Lambo Vols recruiting visit! I think maybe SC fans feel it’s a better chance they’ll land some of these 2026 recruits and perhaps they will. Those 2025 kids got the same treatment on visits.

SC staff is generally very secretive about recruiting, but behind the scenes, CDS is recruiting KH (& McKenna Wolicko/O. Edwards) as hard as any players she has ever recruited.

Congrats on the class . Really good prospects . Hope they all work out & become productive players for UT. Same goes for the 2 HS AAs SC has committed for 25 as well.

I watched ‘26 G Kate Harping Marist HS on NFHS network in the State Semifinals.
Solid performance. Her team didn’t advance to the State Finals.
She could be a piece to a contender. Would provide really good depth as a freshman on the collegiate level.
Plays hard on both ends of the court. Has to make some improvements particularly playing halfcourt defense and shooting free throws went 1-6 in the 1st half.
Edit: Marist now down 25-37 3rd qtr 5:27 left 3rd qtr.
Harping 4-10 FT shooting.

Pretty impressive list you’ve gathered there.

Kim isn’t going to get the recruits that she got in 2025 because they watched her style of play this year.

You know this based on what? The 2025 recruits she landed which have stayed committed for months include 3 McDAAs, 2 Gatorade State POY, 3 State Champions, and 4 will play for a National Championship.
They have all shown as much or even more interest since the start of the season in playing in CKC system after watching it. They watch this system beat UConn and stated their plan is to win multiple National Titles at Tennessee.
Getting caught up in the hype of 2026 prospects Top School Lists when there’s about 50 prospects including several we aren’t even aware of at this stage that will become options for CKC to sign is okay to debate but not a measuring stick of who she sign in the 2026 class and definitely not an indication of her system. Up until February, South Carolina had only 1 2025 HS commit. Texas, Kentucky, and UCLA currently have 1.
Is it those schools system?

Didn't see it being but 3 players anyway as we'll have eight returnees that season probably two or three from the portal this time have to see how their eligibility looks. Always want to leave 2 or 3 spaces open for the next portal. So until we see how it all plays out negativity is useless conversation.

SC has 2 HS commits for 2025, the #4 and #22 players. The plan was 2-3 for 2025 with 1 portal player. They cycle every other year with a smaller class followed by a larger class. Its been their method the past 8-10 years. 2026 is expected to be a larger class, Vukosa and Edwards are priority type targets.

I said up until February, they just added the 2nd commit. That was my point. Coach Caldwell isn’t looking to sign a 5 player HS class in 2026. Some posters think schools should waste valuable time and resources on every single prospect to get put on their Top Schools List but that’s not productive recruiting. Both sides know when there’s mutual interest. You recruit multiple players in each position you believe fit your system but not all of them based on a number placed by their name from recruiting services. Good luck to all these kids and hopefully they get to enjoy the process.

Didn’t Woliczko tear her acl? It may have been US who backed off on her not the other way around.

I think it’s more of Coach Caldwell being strategic in who she recruits and it has paid off tremendously in less than year.
I know she’s after multiple prospects and it’s a detailed plan where you cast a net for your top 3 + prospects in each position but understand her philosophy is based on a positionless system.
She could add a class of all guards or all wings and then find post players via the portal. It’s not the traditional system.
Schools like South Carolina, Baylor, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Kentucky among others went into a 2025 recruiting battle full swing for Deniya Prawl and Jaida Civil. Every school was out recruited by CKC, Lazo, and Tubner in the HS recruiting period that solidified the Lambo Vols.
Everything right now is being played close to the vest. It’s chess not checkers.
GBO ‘solid’!

Only going to be a loss if you can't get some talent out of the portal to play inside. Several reasons why you don't get a player like that these days may have wanted more Nil than Tennessee was willing to pay. Just didn't like Tennessee or liked other schools better. Since they say it is Texas probably liked the way post players are doing in that system and also Texas has a load of Nil right now. If the NCAA can't legally put a cap on Nil for power five schools it becomes a bidding war that sometimes you don't want to be involved in.

Have to say with Vukosa eliminated, it makes me nervous that Oliviyah Edwards is the only remaining target with an offer/reoffer posted by Kim who's a post player, especially after not getting any in the 2025 class either. Kelsi Andrews appears to be the only other player on this list who is a forward, but I guess she hasn't been reoffered by the new staff. There aren't many other posts in the top 25 of this class but there are quite a few in the 26-50 range. I wonder if any are on our radar.

The goal then becomes to get two sophomores, juniors out of the portal. So may need to worry if we get no one there.

If you are a kid just coming out of high school it would be very, very appealing to play in a system where 10 players get significant minutes rather than 6-7. That means you are far more likely to get on the floor and get developed much more quickly.

This is especially true in an age where there is the portal and NIL which means more experienced players can swoop in and take your minutes at any time on a team running a traditional system. Worst thing that can happen for a player is to get caught in a logjam at the beginning of their career.

Plus already shown that if you perform your minutes go up and if they don't go down. Cooper, Spencer, Spearman, Boyd, and Latham gained a lot of minutes from where they started the season. Puckett, and Darby lost minutes and Jill stayed flat where she started. There was a couple games where Spencer hit 32 minutes and Cooper got 30 once or twice would've got more if she could've stayed out of foul trouble same for Spearman. Latham and Boyd started out low, but were really gaining late in the season at the expense of Darby and Puckett.
