2026 Lady Vols Recruiting

👆Again a waste of time.
Tennessee freshmen class is the best in WBB. No team plays a system that forces players to basically attempt to function in 2 min increments of playing time for 4 quarters.
This freshmen class production can’t only be measured by some points per game average.
That is irrelevant. They have high level intangibles. They give max effort to rebound, defend, score, and play as a team. They are coachable. And they are leaders. There is nothing more a head coach can ask of freshmen on this level.
As young players, they are already showing the ability to play through adversity and are going to be highly successful as collegiate athletes.
Same as for Gabby Minus and Oliviyah Edwards. Big Oh can play college basketball right now as a senior in HS.
You keep blaming the system Mr. Pauldo but... Kim has had players play in her system that produced and went from d2 to d1 (Buffalo) as a graduate players and still produced the same amount of rebounds and points in a different system. .... there is no excuse for players not to produce in 2 min span or 7 minute span. .... Players need to learn how to play without the ball in their hands 95% of the game.

I trust them because of the film I’ve watched, it has nothing to do with rankings, it’s only my opinion, we are still far away, Texas is close as of now, so they don’t need as much help as we do. I just don’t see how we build a Championship roster in the offseason, but a miracle can happen.
What I like about you we can have different opinions without getting in a rabid fight. They are a solid group for sure. I think Crittendon is very thin and weak she will have to muscle up to be effective in the SEC. They all have time as Texas has about seven returning that are in the rotation this season so they certainly will have a chance to take their time in that system.

OTOH, the last paragraph about when money becomes the why is once again the territory you’ve objected to. Because unless the recruit comes out and says that, you can’t actually know it.
These players have agents molding their public facade. To believe everything a player says about their NIL or motivations about selecting a particular school (or would NIL deal be more appropriate) would be naive.

Hebron Academy (19-1) 40
Hart County (14-7) 6
2nd qtr
Gabby Minus has a nice looking jumper.
An interesting tidbit Hebron is using a 5in and 5out hockey substitution system.
Not sure if this is how they have played all year but CKC system from a substitution pattern strategy will certainly not be new to Gabby when she plays at Tennessee.

Excellent report. Thanks for sharing news.

Besides the winning program dynamic, wonder what the price tag will be to get her. She and Edwards in the frontcourt would be fantastic but Kim would have to allow her frontcourt to shine and not just regulated them to being stretch 4/3s.
Price Tag? She is a spanish player. Foreign players don't have the same NIL options in the United States as American players. Last Tear Poa from LSU to my understanding had filed a case regarding this last year, to my understanding.

My understanding is they can fly to a border to sign the required documents and it doesn’t count against their student visa.

And you’ll be wrong. Tennessee isn’t desperate for a big that won’t be better than the no. 2 big in the same class. This player is 6’4 just as Edwards. And unlike Edwards, this is a player with a very thin frame. Maybe even smaller in build than any of Tennessee forwards currently on the roster (which many of you complain about not being true posts) from the film I have studied.
The closest player to a true post that has come out of HS in recent years is Oliviyah Edwards. Just because she is versatile doesn’t mean she isn’t a post. Just watch her film and how she finished at the rim.
The correct wording would be it is a plus to add depth by signing this player.
With the portal, Edwards and Minus gives the staff what they need in this recruiting class.
And if someone on the team enters the portal again, that’s why the portal is for to fill in what’s needed.

If so, I’d argue none of her top schools are more desperate for a big than TN. Find the donors to get it done.

I feel Gabby Minus is gonna be elite. She has great size at 6'2/6'3. I look forward to seeing her play next season.
Watched her a lot she is far better than number sixty two. Players get injured they really drop them in the ratings. She has the size and the perimeter shot that anyone would be glad to have on the team. She is a stat sheet filler strong rebounder, passer, can score inside or out and is really good at stealing the ball for her size. I think she will probably be a three or stretch four for us or would be if we actually said we had positions.

This is great to hear. Lord knows we need this type of player right now.

What we are needing is replacements for graduating players. That would be Spearman, Barker, and Robertson. We really don't have to replace anyone else even though we do have two more seniors leaving. Really don't like to put freshmen on the spot to be the replacements although I have huge confidence in Edwards.

Usually takes any freshmen time to adjust so would like to see some solid upper class players come into the program to help replace those that are leaving. Most even highly rated freshmen get off the to a slow start then figure it our mid-season on. That is where this years freshman group it headed now and next season they will certainly take up a lot of the graduating slack.

Even Nate Ament on the Vols men's side started out really slow and he was the number two rated player in the class. Here a little past mid-season he has turned into a superstar player better now than anyone else on the team. This may be the same course that Edwards takes it would be unusual for her to come in on day one and dominate against times she goes up against older more experienced players. I think by middle of the season she will be there just like Ament.

It would be nice to get a great older player junior or senior post to go with Edwards that has been through it all. That would really help her and the team from day one. A couple of three point shooters to help Pauldo.

Mindset and desire is everything. I think we have the players this year where they are at on the court seems to be a place they shouldn't be with the experience and talent that they have. Maybe I am wrong, but I think all four are better than they are playing. If not then we are exactly where we belong because the way they are playing is putting us there.

Sounds good. But as I said with the 2025 recruiting class they came in ready to play and contributed from Day 1.
It is kind of ridiculous to act as if this system doesn’t factor into a lot of the early on growing pains experienced from this team regardless of the classification of players.
Oliviyah Edwards will be ready to step on the court and play at a very high level from Day 1. And now that Gabby Minus is back on the court and returning to a high level of play that was seen before the injury she too will be a Day 1 contributor.
The issue at Tennessee in these two years has been the system not whether the talent in either recruiting class was ready to play on the college level.

Her game does remind me a lot of MSST freshman Francis.

I do like the system just not the subbing pattern. I know it is what were going to do so it has to be accepted. I like to cut the rotation down to no more than nine players really like eight. I like to play the starters over 30 minutes some as much as 35. Every coach know who the best five players on the team are that is who will give you the best results on the court. I understand some games there is foul trouble and you will have to play differently in those games.

Sounds good. Just accept the fact you aren’t going to win big games consistently especially on the road on this level with a predictable system.
Don’t matter how good you recruit, the players you recruit, or what analytics are used to measure statistical categories.. when the opponent knows your one game-plan and makes the right adjustments they have full advantage to beat you and that’s what we’re seeing in big games. Can’t be a one trick pony.
On this level you have to be diverse and have a balanced system across the board.

Don’t see it. I’ve seen a lot of Hebron games live and as a big guard she plays similar to Tessa Johnson at SC. With her size, she could grow into being a 4 on the collegiate level and in that position the one player I keep coming back to that reminds me of Gabby Minus is Cotie McMahon.

That is a good comparison. They seem to have similar games.
