I 100% guarantee if Kim Caldwell were a wrinkled, old, short, fat woman she would NOT have all these people willing to give her more time.

Caldwell isn't even that attractive, weirdo. You too young to realize how long we put up with Holly?! LOL. Nobody cares about how the coach looks.

You are confusing fan sentiment with the decisions of an AD. All that matters is how long an AD "puts up" with a hire.

In Holly's case there was not that much putting up with. She took the team to 3 elite 8s in her first 4 years and brought in high rated recruiting classes every year of her tenure. She also won an SEC title. No AD fires a coach for that level of performance and it earned her an extra year when things started going down hill in years 6 and 7.

Despite having an incredible amount of success, particularly under the circumstances, many fans hated, HATED, Holly from day one and their attacks of centered on the way she looked (as well as her lifestyle).

If you going play the history card, at least get the story straight.

I frequent the Recruiting board to keep up with Vol football. Still to this day people over there refer to our newer coaches as “pretty Holly,” so yes people cared how the coach looked.

I'd remind you Holly lost her head coaching debut to UTC. However nobody tried to run off Holly until it was evident she could not recruit or coach well and the team seemingly was progressively worse for 3 consecutive seasons. Negavols just big mad many of us stand by our coaches more than the PAID players who mailed it in for half the season. I'm far more frustrated with the players last season than Caldwell. That's not going to change either.

Goal for next season needs to be that. Top 15 finish, hosting in the NCAA tournament and at least a couple big wins we aren’t supposed to get.

I think she should schedule more games on a lighter schedule like Mulkey to let the team gel through non-con

I love a tough schedule when appropriate but we’re gonna have too many new pieces to schedule like we did last season.
Your not going be able to change the schedule now , it would be almost impossible. And to expect to even make the tournament without seeing who has signed is a leep . With this dumpster fire it's going be interesting to see will be willing to sign up.

Yeah, unless we break our contracts, we know for sure we’re playing all 4 of the Final Four teams again next year. Can’t get out of any SEC and will definitely have a middle of the pack ACC team for the SEC/ACC challenge.

UCLA and Texas have to see what they look like the other two are losses. Texas undergoing a huge renovation six in portal could be more.

Definitely new looks for them. Something tells me with Texas money, they’ll get some decent players. UCLA will probably also be a good landing spot after the championship and with all the playing time/NIL that they just freed up.

Another thing a lot of people better realize when DW decides to part ways with Kim it's going be a hard sale to any coach. Social media is hurting the program more and more because so many are so adamant about firing the coach. There's a lot I not sold on with Kim but something happened this year to spoil the whole dang team. Her past track record got her one more year then she's probably going back to mid major. I hate it got this far but the new landscape is terrible for all sports and teams.

I think whether it’s this year or next, it’ll be hard to wash the current stench off this program, but I don’t want to hijack this thread with any firing or letting go talk. Retro wanted this one to be about next year’s team, so I should honor that.

Can people stop with that narrative. The moment the job opens which I don’t believe it will this Tennessee program will be at the top of any list for coaches. Fan takes on social media mean absolutely nothing. If the University and Athletic Dept, set a high mark for the salary and resources allotted to a new coach they will get who they want as a new coach if that happenes.
Virginia is dealing with a public issue right now concerning their head coach vacancy and not one person looking for a Power 4 job would turn it down for the right price. Just because certain coaches don’t want to leave their current job that doesn’t mean a program like Tennessee which is a Top 2 destination isn’t coveted. Stop listening to the local social media journalists and thinking what they write is credible.

Dude, she won the SEC in her first season and was honored as freakin’ national coach of the year and you felt like you had to “put up” with her, keep digging…..

Nobody tried to fire Holly until about 4 years later when she no longer had Pat's old team bro. Cite something or quit making a revisionist history. LOL. We gave Holly 2 extra seasons arguably and those girls never even quit on her like they did Kim. What's your poorly thought out point you trying to make, specifically?!

Oh Hell, Stop 😂😂 someone needs their eyes checked.

Only put up with Holly cause she's a former LV and ppl think that automatically makes them a good coach & didnt want her fired after just 2-3 seasons. Same with Kellie.

I don’t like her system but I also hate this deeply for her. I feel compassion for her because this has to be a lot and at a whirlwind pace. Something she believes so deeply in and that is attached to her identity as a coach and her professional success under this level of scrutiny. Losing your whole team. Being responsible for demolishing some of TNs storied success with devastating, first time in history lows. You work hard and reach this pinnacle of success, I mean my God, you got hired as the head coach of TN. And after all of that… you’re facing this. She’s never had a losing season. Not even close. But if she fails to rebound this program next year… she will go from the highest heights in her career to a devastating fall that will probably take some time to recover from. I think it was perhaps too ambitious of a jump from where she was to here and she needed more time to develop, test and experiment, adapt etc before coming here. But. That’s conjecture on my part. Who really knows. Next year will tell us a lot. Not crazy about Kim as the current Lady Vols coach but hurt for Kim the extremely hard nosed and hard working person. This is why hiring is something to be taken extremely seriously. You could really wreck somebody’s career, confidence, future prospects etc by making an immature or ill advised move. And sadly, multiple people, entire systems, often go down with them. Not even a bad talent necessarily , just wrong role or wrong time.

I never keep up with the transfer portal, but will be doing so this year for obvious reasons. When should we expect to start seeing players commit?

How about Emily Hunter from TCU as she is 6'7 and from Nolensville TN or too slow?

I never saw her play, 6’7” is always worth a gamble. They had so much size on that roster she was totally buried. Was playing behind 2-3 other 6’6”-6’7” players
