2025 Recruiting

True. I’ve always been intrigued with Kaiya’s athletic talent. I believe she can find a role possibly and make an impact at some point next season. CKC certainly knows talent and is a very good coach, so with that being said based on what I’ve seen I would say our best defenders arguably since Horston and Key are Kaniya Boyd and Talaysia Cooper. Cooper is a legit candidate for National and SEC DPOY. Kaiya is a good defender but Cooper is a dominant defensive player. This is not to discredit Kaiya in any way. Adding the Pauldo twins and Jaida Civil three other elite defensive talents will give Kaiya time to recover and rehab prior to returning from her injury.
GBO!

I don't think it is quite that simple. Favor might not be out best defender but she is definitely one of our top 3 most versatile defenders. Yet she gets no minutes. She is too much of a liability offensively. And the players that are better than her on offense are 'good enough' defensively that we are better with them on the floor. I am worried with Wynn that she will be in that same situation. Obviously, I hope she makes big strides on offense and finds her way into the rotation. She is a phenomenal example of what a student-athlete should be so I am rooting for her.

CKC said Wynn was her best defender before the injury. She will get lots of mins in this system if that is true. The best defender finds their way onto the court.
She fits into the offense too. Athletic driver.
Kim has said they (the coaching staff/the program) want to be known for their player development. It's too bad Wynn won't have more years with this coaching staff, but I'm curious what they can do with her offensive skillset next season.

I am sure this will be an unpopular opinion. And I certainly hope I am wrong. But I do not see very minutes available for her next season. She is too limited offensively. And we do not have the same defensive personnel liabilities that we have this season. So her defensive upgrade over the other guards would be minimal and not enough to offset her offensive limitations. I worry she will be in the same situation that Favor is in this season.
I really hope Wynn has a good season next year, but I agree with your assessment. She never impressed me that she was a great defender. I think people mistook her high energy and her being one of the best athletes on the team last year as being a great defender. Hopefully, with those traits she can become a much better defender next year.

"impressed me as a great defender" would be interesting in how many current LVs are great defenders in the current defensive scheme. (note the level of the bar to be great versus adequate)

I would love to see how good Cooper could be on defense if relieved of her current onus to provide so much of our scoring offense.

Probably an oversimplification, but I'd still bet that if her assists were able to up, so would her steals.

Coaching matters.

Nothing to bookmark all you have to do is watch how this season has played out thus far against teams with bigs. It’s not rocket science.
we’re also bringing in a lot of talent tho. replacing players who need replacing. we’re gonna be a much better team, although i’m sure CKC knows we need a post…

I didn’t say she didn’t know. Doesn’t change the facts about us needing them. The other guy/gal is taking it personal versus looking at it for what it is. Thats his/her problem though not mine. You’re not winning a championship with just guard play. Whether it’s SEC or National.

The UConn has no chance, because all they have are guards. Women's is much dif5than men's. In the men's game you win Championships with guard play.

Not going to matter too much unless we find some big time post players
I don't think they have to be , as you said bigtime post players . We need size that can move and stretch the floor. I prefer the big freshman from Duke. Anybody git her number, we need to do a little back channeling.

What are you talking about? First off, as a man what I stated was my opinion “we’ll see.” Who’s taking anything personal? Bookmark simply means hold that thought for later.
You acting strange about an opinion.

We need big time bigs that show up each game to defend the lane and make layups.

There’s no first off anything because you’re not addressing a child. And you got personal the moment you said you knew I wasn’t a rocket scientist. So as a “man” own it. 🤦🏾‍♂️😂 Talk to yourself I’m done here. 🫱🏾‍🫲🏽

Lol good chatting! Bookmark.

i would give anything for us to stop talking about how short a new recruit is. how many short players have to eat our lunch from opposing teams for it to sink in that skill and quickness will usually be more valuable, especially in a system like ours? moving on...it's a tired subject, respectfully.

Right? All that matters is how they play.

OMG at Florida State is tiny but it isn’t stopping her. Awesome PG for them. Latson isn’t huge either. She’s listed 5’8” but looks 5’7” and is crazy strong. One of the best scorers in the country.
