2025 Recruiting

Lauren Hurst, 6’3 wing from Cleveland, is coming for an unofficial this weekend. Pretty sure she’s going to be offered on her visit. She has blown up this summer, receiving offers from Georgia, Illinois, Ole Miss, Alabama, Miami, Miss State, Arkansas and Kentucky. Her brother just signed on as a preferred walk on for the men’s team and the family are season ticket holders for football. She was also the Tennessee Gatorade Player of the Year in volleyball as a sophomore

…sweet.
Two sport prodigy? Or can she do that?

I seem to remember an excellent player at Stanford a few years ago who played both basketball and volleyball. Don’t remember her name nor whether she played both sports during the same year.

Just found the youngster’s story. Her name was Kristen Folkl. She was an All American four times in volleyball and two years in basketball. Her last year at Stanford was 1998.

Folkl was a helluva player in both sports! Stanford has had a few others play both as well, and then you also have one of the all time greats in both sports at UCLA, Natalie Williams. The issue with playing both is that for Folkl and Williams they typically didn't join the basketball team at the beginning of the season but after their volleyball season was over since both were always in the thick of it for national championships and making deep post season runs in volleyball. The women's volleyball final four usually concludes in mid-December.

Vonda Ward, somehow never was on the "good side" of PHS - during those days when fan, player restrictions were not as rule-bound we had Vonda over several times. yes, she did

Holland Harris info:

6'1" - SG/WING/SF, Orlando. FL. Holland is a long athletic player with amazing quickness. Holland moves well with or without the ball, creating off the dribble with 3-pointers, pulling up for the mid-range, or attacking the basket and finishing strong. Very often she is guarding the best player on the other team easily contesting the ball, blocking shots, and grabbing rebounds.
