2025/26 Transfer Portal Thread

it’s a fair statement to expect our run defense to be much worse this year considering we lost Omari Thomas, Jenkins, ONL, Elijah Simmons and James Pearce. Not sure why i thought there wouldn’t be a big drop off. Add Mcoy and Gibson to that list
Especially after not adding any help to the interior Dline. They were doomed from the start.

3/4 IDL/SDE

2 Safety’s- 1 starter and 1 to compete with Farooq.

1 STAR- Starter, possibly another for depth.

1 CB- Depth piece if both Gibson and Redmond are back.

I’m fine with no LB especially if Carter is back, let the young guys develop.
That seems like a lot of portal players just for defense. Wouldn't we need several guys to hit the portal as well?

We knew we were losing all those guys, though. In this era, why weren't we more aggressive in the portal to replace them? Our answer was to sign Josh Schell from D2 Grand Valley State. That is piss-poor roster management. With our resources, you don't get a pass when you whiff like that to just say, "Well, we lost several guys." Everyone is replaceable, now.

Totally over the excuses people have over the roster. This isn't 1995. NIL and the portal can fix holes in a single off-season. That falls on the HC/staff.

2 DL have already hit the portal and honestly wouldn't be shocked to see a few more. They currently do not have an adequate STAR on the roster after the bowl. McCoy and Hood are gone. I still think Gibson is a shaky return tbh. Plenty of room. Some need to be shown the door.

Personally thought Hobbs and Moi were going to be much better, but yep we needed 2 additional interior guys in a big way. Speaking of linemen, do we lose any offensive linemen? Moe is a RS Jr, Pendleton is a sophomore, heard has another year (if he doesn’t go pro)

Same. I'm far from the fire Heupel camp, but the honeymoon is long over. He either needs to hold his staff accountable, or Danny White needs to hold Heupel accountable for his staff.

Indeed. Texas signed 4 DTs from the portal alone last cycle. Not to mention what they got from HS.

We didn’t even get 1??

And safety too.

Unbelievable. That’s the story of the season right there.

I have a theory you have to care about all of this at psychologically unhealthy levels to perceive the exact same situation someone else does as positive as a total disaster that needs to be addressed immediately. Preferably someone calls 9/11 and we can get rid of some of these bum coaches.

Man, look at how recruiting is going. Look at how much cash is being pumped into the program. Can we spend like Michigan and Ohio State? No. Didn't keep us from hanging onto Moa and David Sanders. Plus, maybe it isn't worth frostbite.

Plus the coeds don't shave their legs up north. Groce!

Our entire 6 man oline can return. Heard has some 2nd round mocks. If that is accurate, he gone.

We need to find out in a hurry what we have in Bennett Warren. We could also slide Perry to tackle and roll with Moe and Sham at Guard. I personally prefer Perry at Guard tho.

Agreed. Not replacing what we lost at DT totally effected the overall defense this year. Losing both starting corners obviously didn't help as well.

(If Carter goes Pro then Perlotte or Harmon can take his spot. I don’t think we need to waste time at LB, especially with White and Rouse coming in)

Telander cannot be your starting 3-down MLB. His lack of mobility and athleticism for that position was one of our biggest problems. He'd actually make a really nice DE/Edge type player because he's good at rushing the passer. But he can't cover backs and TEs to save his life.

I agree, but you and I both know he’s going to be starting next season.
