2024 Ohio State one of the most talented teams Tennessee ever played.

2003 Miami was probably the best all around collection of talent outside of those obvious Alabama and Florida teams in the past. 1998 Nebraska1990 Virginia and 1984 Miami were three really good teams that stood out in some way, as well. I'm sure I'm missing several other good teams over the years.

All that ESPN promoting them and former qb OSU Kirk Herbstreit promoting them certainly paid off in the nfl draft kinda like promoting Woodson over Manning for Heisman .

I was angry about it at first, but now I'm grateful for the experience. It showed us where the Vols are lacking.

Not to mention, despite the loss, my son and I have a lasting memory together.
Agree. When we played them in the Citrus Bowl in the 90's they were also quite loaded with high NFL picks from what I remember.

1980 USC on the short list

USC DB's that night: Ronnie Lott (NFL HOFer), Joey Browner (NFL AP), Dennis Smith (NFL AP) and Jeff Fisher (NFL HC/85 Bears D)

Figures they would be UT's draw in their first playoff game....and at their house...at night....in sub-20 degree weather. Figures.
We were lucky the score was only 42-17. I had a really bad feeling going into that game. They were damn near a NFL team talent wise and they were just humiliated at home by their most hated rival.

At halftime I knew OSU was going to win the NC.

You talking about the monsoon game where the Buckeyes were complaining about the length of our cleats? They had less studs than usual that season, but George, Glenn, Pace, Vrabel and Springs were all really solid. Probably missing one or two more guys.

Yup, and them running George behind Pace ... we stonewalled 'em. My old boss still owes me $5 for that game. 😆

The Miami team was absolutely loaded.

Days of the best players coming to the SEC is over. Instead of SEC competing against thr B10, it is now the NIL haves vs the have nots. Heck, even the Big 12 has money and continue to get better players. Eventually better coaches will join the BIg 12
