This is in no way intended as an excuse for the pathetic qb play, slant non-coverage, etc the Vols have demonstrated this year. We and many other teams have serious issues to work through. However, it must be stated:
To speak of any streaks being broken in 2020 is completely disingenuous. Talk about asterisks!
Yes, the Vols got crushed in Knoxville yesterday, but momentum is major deal in football. Would 90k rabid Vol fans have intimidated the Cats? You better believe it, especially after we rammed it at will on the scoring drive. The crowd would have been in a frenzy. Instead? They pump in sound IN EQUAL AMOUNTS for both teams.
Everybody knows LSU's Death Valley is dead at noon, but roll in for a night game in front of 90k drunk fans and the stoutest hearts fail. Death Valley with 25k fans??? Call it "under-the-weather ditch" instead.
Home field advantage is non-existent this year. All the talk of streaks ending needs to go away... and take Covid with it.
