2020 Presidential Race

If he moves forward with this I won't have any problem criticizing him over it, government has no business in this.

But I assume you libs agree with and will praise the President over this right?
No, I think the point of a federally mandated minimum wage should simply be to avoid flagrant abuses that might take place in factories and other such manual labor jobs without it. It should not be to provide our lowest skilled workers a "living wage". Ultimately, such a high minimum wage, will only give companies more incentive toward automated innovations and cost jobs in the long run. In the future, McDonald's won't need burger flippers anymore... they will have a robot to do it.

Democrats have always pandered to a portion of their base on this issue, Republicans usually don't... but Trump has made an exception. He understands his base very well... and he knows that it will not hurt him to do this.

He's probably working on an expanded list of exemptions to cover his dishonest and failing golf courses.

Agree on the first part

Second part, conservatives won't be happy with him if he were to sign on to this. My guess is he has no real intentions on doing this but who really knows.

I disagree, the market should determine the value of employment. I'm not sure what you mean by flagrant abuses, if an employer doesn't want to pay a market average, the position will go unfilled and the employer will lose productivity.

In any labor force (even in an economy as strong as ours), there are people who are desperate for work (convicted felons, illegals who don't know better) who will work well below the market average. Now, it's true that those people will usually seek income through the underground economy as well ... but that doesn't mean that there wouldn't be abuses.

Why criticize him? He is still 20 times better than any of the Communist candidates in the Democrat Party.
So, just because you would still vote for him anyway, makes him immune from criticism (in your eyes)? You should still be able to honestly assess a President's policies and be critical when necessary, even when it's someone you like. There should be no such thing as unconditional support but that is basically, what you are advocating for.

Just because I don't criticize someone doesn't mean that I agree with everything they do. What would be the point and how would it make a difference if I did criticize him? Would it just be to make you feel better about me? I don't gaf what you think or feel about me.

Hmmm.... It's an anonymous forum. The same thing applies for everyone here. My point was that unconditional support is for people who are subservient minions and lackeys. Now, do I care that you are a Trump bootlicker? Of course not. Lick away, minion!

I have a few acquaintances that are dem voters in the past. Dumb as i think they are for supporting Obama etc in the past...i have to give credit now. 2/3 of them dont know what to do now...because the dem party has jumped the shark when all of the candidates are socialists. I have heard " I wish they would just establish their own socialist party, so us democrats could keep our good name." As delusional as they are at times, they arent socialists, and are good enough at math to realize that free healthcare, free college, free everything...isnt actually free and qould bankrupt our country almost immediately. I gotta give em credit. They may like handouts here and there, but they are communists and socialists like these candidates are. I personally believe a 3rd centrist party could stand a real chance right now of establishing itself and changing the whole paradigm to a 3 party system. There is much much room for a centrist 3rd party today in the huge gulf between repubs and the socialists. HUGE HUGE DIVIDE.
