AOC: Nearly ‘Every Single Swing District’ Dem ‘Refused My Help’

Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), the freshman Bronx lawmaker expected to win her re-election race by nearly 40 points, told The New York Times in an interview published Sunday that she tried to offer help to swing-district Democrats running for congress, but was turned down in nearly every case. In fact, Ocasio-Cortez suggested that she’s been unsuccessfully “begging the party to let me help them for two years.”

AOC admits, ‘I don’t even know if I want to be in politics’

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez says she doesn’t know whether she wants to stay in politics, much less run for higher office.

“It’s the stress. … It’s the lack of support from your own party. It’s your own party thinking you’re the enemy,’’ the Bronx congresswoman told the New York Times in an interview published over the weekend.

“I’m serious when I tell people the odds of me running for higher office and the odds of me just going off trying to start a homestead somewhere — they’re probably the same,” said the pol, who just won re-election.

The self-described democratic socialist and her “Squad” of congressional cronies have taken heat over their party’s unexpectedly poor showing in some races, with critics saying the progressive female group’s attempt to push the Dems to the far-left killed colleagues at the polls.

House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn (D-SC) on Sunday accused liberals who pushed the “defund the police” battle cry amid the Black Lives Matter movement of costing some Democrats their seats. AOC has been among those calling for “defunding.”

The congresswoman acknowledged to CNN on Sunday that the Republicans “levied very effective rhetorical attacks against our party” over such issues.

But that’s not the real problem, she said — it’s that the Dems are so far behind the times when it comes to getting out their message.

“Our party isn’t even online, not in a real way that exhibits competence. And so, yeah, [some Democratic candidates] were vulnerable to these messages because they weren’t even on the mediums where these messages were so potent,’’ she told the Times. “They were sitting ducks.”

You would think that after this disaster that this would be the end of Robby Mook in national politics, but it’s the Democrats, so I guess you never know.

Republicans win the last disputed congressional race from November's election

The GOP pickup in the House shrinks the Democrats’ majority to 221-212

A New York State supreme court justice ruled on Friday that Oneida County and the State Board of Elections can certify its final results for New York's 22nd Congressional Race, which has Tenney up by 109 votes over Democratic incumbent Rep. Anthony Brindisi.

While there are likely legal challenges ahead – Brindisi’s lawyers are appealing the ruling to the Appellate Division, saying certification should be paused until after a hand count - the decision means Tenney will be seated in House of Representatives.
