2019 First Play From Scrimmage

Ok, we all know that with CJP, even with CJC, our first play is going to be a conservative off tackle run.

But let's dream a little. Basilio has been doing this on his show the past couple of days, and it's kinda fun:

What would your DREAM first play be? A play to announce that the CJP era has officially begun. That last year was a warm up, and we now have the players and coaches to actually compete.

Mine is easy. It takes advantage of JG's very strong intermediate range ball. And it's a classic play. We have the WRs to pull it off, and it takes minimal protection. Against GA St is should work. What a signal it would send. And if it doesn't, then you just pound it for two plays and get the 1st anyway.

Without further ado, my dream first play. What is yours?

Ga State on offense; Simple dive for an 80 yard TD as Tennessee players trip over or tackle each other instead of the RB.

Dream Play? Some sort of crazy Emory and Henry triple reverse pass with a hook & ladder thrown in.

What I really want to see, though? A basic run play that goes for 10+ yards thanks to dominant blocking, and not just because they are more physically gifted than a 2-10 non-Power5 team, but because they did it right.

The old fashion, school yard, Statue of Liberty, they will not see it coming!!!! We pick up 40+ on the play, we'd be the play of the day on every sports cast (not just for a day), plus it would be fuunnnneeee.

I’d like to see either a bomb downfield that hits Jennings in stride or a little screen to Gray and we get to see what he can do.

What I expect to see, simple handoff off tackle. Pruitt will challenge the o line all game

Well, if the individuals give 63 effort and are resilient and play complimentary football and can apply what they learned from leadership and mental reps then I’d say it will be a handoff to Chandler for a 7 ya gain
