I just realized that we lose Phillips, Shy, A. Johnson, and Bain after this season, and we already don't have much depth on the line. Who starts there for us next year? I would think this will be our biggest weakness going into the next season.

Kind of early for next year excuse threads, we usually don't start those until after the current season ends.

Gooden is better than anyone we have on the team now. He rarely plays for some reaskn and leads the team in TFL's.

I dont get it.

It’s already our biggest weakness. Look for a repeat of last year when Kentucky, mizzou, and Vanderbilt ran all over us. South Carolina exposed our d-line last night. Our seniors on the d-line aren’t that good and they won’t be greatly missed.

Let’s be honest here. I really like those guys, especially Phillips. But it should be a little addition by subtraction when they’re gone. We’re 11th in the SEC in run defense and we’d likely be ranked lower if teams ran it more against us. We’re also really bad a getting any type of pressure and penetration.

We’ll have Emmitt Gooden, Kingston Harris, Greg Emerson, Matthew Butler and whoever else for next year.....so on second thought, yeah, we’re screwed. Anybody thinking our DL (or OL for that matter) is gonna be any better next year is in for a severe disappointment I’m afraid.

yep, coaches have a lot of work ahead...recruiting and coaching...beating the bushes in JUCO...it's a tough job, right now, at UT...little ways to go yet...

GO VOLS!

Savion Williams or Elijah Simmons at NT is my guess. We need someone bigger and stronger than Tuttle... he’s better suited for the 4-3. Could also see Gooden at NT but who then do we put at DE? Emerson and Butler seem like logical candidates but we’re so bad up front that they should be seeing the field if they’re decent.

Tuttle and Phillips are good but 43 good. They don’t line up well in a 34. We need a true NT.

Yeah I’m missing something there as well. Maybe he’s hurt or maybe the coaches are trying to redshirt him knowing the challenge that lies ahead?

Yep. Someone who can only be moved by a double team. When the opposing center can consistently move our nose 3 yards off the LOS, we are screwed. Such was the case last night.
Heck, their center or guard (depending on the play call), were at the second level on our linebackers all night.
Kirkland is athletic but can’t shed a block to save his life. Bituli is great but can’t shoot the gap with a 300lb lineman in his face every time.
