2018 ESPN PFI is out: expected wins

In the current streak of 11 games, the Bama loss has yet to cost UT the East. Not once.

I agree UT has sucked so bad that any one loss can't be pinpointed in a season but it's one of the accumulated total that we can pencil in each and every year without fail. That's 75% Bama being that much better and 25% TN being inept. I thoroughly believe that four quarters with Bama physically and mentally beats a team up worse than any other team in the league, with LSU a close second and maybe Florida third. Georgia is awesome but I still see them as finesse first, like Auburn.

One has to remember that we lose players to injury when we have played Alabama in the past few years. After that game we usually lose 2-3 very close games which means we do not win the SEC East. Who knows what might have happened if we were not beat to death every year by Bama's superior strength and depth.

I have 5-8 W's.

5 locks
UTEP
Charlotte
East Tennessee State
UK*
Vandy*
3 Maybe's
South Carolina
West Virginia
Mizzou

Florida
is just that, Florida. We could go 14-1 and win the Natty and still lose to a 6-6 Birmingham Bowl Florida team.
BAMA and UGA outscored us 86-7 last year.
Auburn beat both Alabama and UGA last year.

So I would love to hear the rationale behind UK and Vandy being locks for Ws. Those days are gone my friend.

You've seen it at least a hundred times, what difference is one more gonna make?

They're not "gone", they've just been on vacation. And not Gump style.

No offense here, but can we stop with predicting wins because we “have more talent”?? There’s a source out there right now that says we had the 11th best/most talented roster last year.....what did that get us, other than a couple of beat downs from the likes of Vandy and Missouri, each of which team had recruiting ranks in the high 30s and 40s during the same timeframe. Until further notice, until JP shows he can develop players and actually turn a collection of good players into a winning team, the “we got more talent” angle doesn’t hold water imho.

Can we please sticky this for all to see until September? Thanks.

Agreed, how is anyone a "lock" based on what we have seen in the past? That said, we really have no idea, this is a new staff all new to their positions. They could get out there, coach relaxed and shock the world. Or they could get smoked.

Here are my thoughts on the winability of the schedule:

- WVU - I don't know a lot about them but have to believe we are more talented and can win.
- ETSU - WE have more talent
- UTEP - We have more talent
- Florida - WE broke the streak, 2 new coaches, this could easily go either way as I think both teams are similar in talent. I't s aquestion of who can best execute their coaches scheme?
- UGA - I think too many are caught up on this. They sucked in Kirby's first year, they caught an easy scehdule in 2017. They beat OU in a shootout they could have just as easily lost. I tihnk they have great talent but I'm still not impressed by their coaching. I watched Chaney as an OC. Great guy, but doesn't scare me.
- Auburn - Who knows, Auburn when they click are hard to beat. When they don't click they take Jax State to overtime.
- Bama - This game could easily be a blowout, or you coudl have a former coach who does what Saban does and knows what Saban does who outsmarts the old guy. I know assitants records against Saban are bad, but that is your variable here.
- SCAR - In losing to them 2 years they haven't "beat" us and we ditched butch who apparently couldn't beat muschump.
- Charlotte - We have more talent
- UK - We have more talent and motivation
- Mizzou - Josh Heupel replaced by Dooley, need I say more?
- Vandy - We have more talent, and like UK this is revenge 2.0

Should be a fun season, if they compete in 12 games I won't worry too much about the outcome. Butch had too many games where you could turn it off by halftime and that needs to end.
So because Dooley sucked here as a HC he will automatically suck at Mizzou as an OC which has had our number more often than not since joining the SEC?

I’m beginning to believe Nationdom and D4H are the same poster.

Here's the thing about that.

I mean, we know they're not the same person. Nationdom handles adversity a HECK of a lot better than D4H, who infamously gave up on the team, the players, the entire program when things didn't go the way he predicted a couple of seasons ago. Not talking about the meltdown 2017 season, D4H lost it during one of the 9-4 seasons.

Nationdom might log off, go kick kittens and puppies, rob a bank, throw himself into a sensory deprivation tank and stew for 3 days, but he doesn't give up on the team, and when he comes back, his glasses are just as rose-shaded as ever.

So, clearly two different fellas. I like Nationdom a whole lot more. Even if the kittens and puppies may not.

I wouldn't be surprised if D4H is an alter, just need a mod to spill the beans or someone with some detective skills to get to the bottom of it.

Freak can see the IP addresses of anyone who is posting, wouldn't be hard to find alts unless they are going through the trouble of using VPNs.

The recruiting class was 2011

My point was that many of our fans believe Dooley is an idiot in all levels of the game and that just isn't true. He literally forgot more about the game on his worst days than most posters will ever know about it on their best day. There's much respect for his mind and understanding of the game. I've talked to too many people in the know for it not to be true. Like I said, he's not power 5 HC material, but he was a successful mid major coach that also served as athletic director. He's no dummy

Dummy? No, he is not. He is a lawyer, he wrote his own contract with UT and will receive every cent owed to him regardless of current pay. He was/is smarter than the sitting UT AD when hired.

Successful mid major coach? How does having 2 losing seasons out of 3 and a record of 17-20 equate to being successful?

Dooley has a major weapon to work with, a QB that can be argued to be the best in the SEC, let’s see how his numbers rank before crowning him.
