Who do you have starting? I have Jennings starting and Byrd Starting at slot. I know a lot of posters want those two on defense, but we just lost our most productive receiver, and in counting on those two playing receiver until I see otherwise. Josh Smith is the obvious choice to take the other starting job, but I think Brandon Johnson could surprise some people.

Jennings, Johnson/Callaway, Byrd

IF those two move to defense
Johnson, Callaway, Smith/Williams

We have a little bit of depth at WR. It's going to take a few young guys to step up. Jeff George, Callaway and Johnson come to mind. Freshman like Jordan Murphy could make an impact next season.

Here's my shot at the 2 deep

WR1: Jennings, Jeff George
WR2: Brandon Johnson, Jordan Murphy
WR3: Josh Smith or Marquez Callaway, Latrell Williams

Jennings stays at WR with Malone's departure. Byrd moves to CB. Smith in the slot, Johnson and Callaway battle for other outside slot, both getting plenty of playing time imo.

I don't think Callaway will be in the slot and I agree with Murphy being in the rotation he will be a force

Looks right imo. As good an educated guess as any

I like that depth chart!! Brandon going to be the one im telling you..he played behind Malone so he got a chance to learn and he will be ready..cant wait to see that latrell kid though..they say he a burner..gotta see it...I love callaway too though..we will see man a long way until the season start..

Calloway and Johnson are going to do really well.

I think Murphy can contribute his first year.

I can dig it. I've never been a fan of Josh Smith, but I think that's based mostly on how he's been utilized in our system. He's made some nice catches in the middle of the field in traffic, but he doesn't do too well with bubble screens. I think most people are in agreeance that Byrd moves to CB where I think he would start immediately, though I wouldn't mind seeing him get a speed sweep once a game.

Latrell Williams has smokin fast speed, supposedly a tick faster than Byrd when healthy.

Byrd to CB

Jones arrived saying he'd have as many as 15 WR's on the roster and would rotate 9. If I count correctly, UT will have 10 WR's on the roster next fall including the Fr and Byrd.

I'd have Byrd playing DB if he outperforms our current rotation, but how do we have any idea that he will do any better than what we are currently starting? Did he get reps last summer and underperform the other DBs, or just come out a better WR?

Regardless, I would have him play DB and use him occasionally as a WR in the slot too. I would not have him out there a lot, but I would definitely try to get him the ball in space. Similar to what the staff was beginning to do for Berry.

I like the above but reduce Smith's role and snaps. He has had plenty of opportunity to rise and did not get it done. Not saying he doesn't play but increase the snaps Callaway gets to be more than or equal to Smith and be sure Williams gets in the rotation as well. Personally Smith does not start on 121's offense were I HC.

My opinion:

WR1 Jauan Jennings
WR2 Tyler Byrd
WR3 Josh Smith
WR4 Marquez Callaway
WR5 Latrell Williams
WR6 Jordan Murphy(freshman)
WR7 Jeff George
WR8 Princeton Fant(freshman)
WR9 Jacquez Jones(freshman)

That's the way I have it right now unless we sign another WR on or before NSD. Thanks!

Not bad, but I think you forgot Brandon Johnson?

Vols need help desperately in the secondary and moving Byrd over from offense does indeed make sense.

I'll never get over the 2000yds the defense gave up over the last 3 regular season games in 2016.......absolutely incredible:crazy:

I did but I wouldn't put him over Jordan Murphy so he would fit in at WR7 for me. And, that would move Jeff George back to WR8. That sounds about right in my opinion.

Johnson could go as high as 4th possibly ahead of Marquez Callaway if he has a good spring & fall practice without any injuries.

Johnson could go as high as 1 or 2.

Not exactly sure what you are using as your eval criteria, but really? 7th or 8th with 4th as his ceiling? Guys who have yet to take a snap at UT automatically starting off higher ranked in your list?

Come on man. I know it's your opinion, but seriously, what's the rational behind it?
