Not sure if you're missing the point deliberately or on accident. And yes, last year does have something to do with this year....the GaTech game was the continuation of a very bad trend with Bob Shoop as the common denominator.
I never said our defense didn't stink it up but calling the team we just played worse than any team we will play in the SEC is laughable and LWS knows it. That was the point I was addressing
I understood your point. Some guys just can't stand it if they think you're taking up for the Vols. Doesn't matter if you said you think GT is better than KY, all that matters to them is how many yards our defense gave up against them. Our defense sucks and that's all you need to be concerned with.
GT's defense was horrendous as well. We won't have the luxury of playing trash defenses in conference play except for Mizzou and maybe Kentucky. If we can't control the line of scrimmage, we will be hurting.
D4H said "I actually liked most of what I saw Monday night from the defense."
This statement is one of the most foolish things I have seen on this board for months. The reality in which he lives must be full of rainbows and unicorns.
The triple option offense run by GT rarely produces 535 yards rushing in a single game.

Agreed. That is why Monday night will not be indicative of our season. Our offense won't look as good as it did in the 2nd half of that game. But conversely our defense won't look as bad as it did.
I said from the start that this will be a defensive led team this year. Just wait until the SEC schedule starts. That is when you'll see how good we'll be on defense.
Georgia Tech is an outlier. We're not gonna see an offense like that again this year. If Florida runs all over us in 2 weeks with that horrible offensive line then we should be worried. Till then I have belief in Shoop and the players.
I really like this year's defense. They will lead us to a national championship.
We are weak on the Dline this year. We have some pretty big holes at defensive tackle and linebacker. Bituli and Taylor are only two players out of 7. The other five players were not good.
We will see very similar concepts all year from run heavy teams.

Wrong.
Defensive line is the strongest position group on this team. I love what I saw from Kongbo, Vickers, KMac, and Taylor. Can't wait to see Shy. From what I've seen in practice he looks in phenomenal shape. And I believe Kyle Phillips will make a big impact as the season goes on.
Overall we are 6 deep with quality starting caliber NFL defensive lineman (Vickers, Kongbo, Taylor, McKenzie, Tuttle, and Phillips). We have a emerging superstar at LB in Bituli and McDowell looks better than he ever has. And our secondary is loaded with 4 really good players (Gaulden, Warrior, Aberbathy, and Moseley). We need Martin to step up. But other than that the defense is looking AWESOME.
New season. Maybe Georgia Tech's new QB is just that good. If you remember he was the main guy who carved us up and he didn't play last year.
Also just because we are bad against the option doesn't mean we'll be bad against other teams.
I will once again direct you to the fact in 2009 an FCS triple option team ran for 400 yards against mighty Alabama (who up to that point in the season hasn't given up 400 yards rushing combined to all the teams the played).
Struggling against the triple option doesn't mean you'll struggle against conventional offenses. That's a fallacy.
Wrong.

This kept being a bit of an earworm on me so in my cursory look over the season I'm not seeing where AL gave up 400yds total in '09, much less 400yds rushing. I may have missed it but could you point out that cited game for us please?
"K-mac" got driven off the ball countless times or wiffed on wrapping up the dive more than a handful of times. Not exactly living up to expectations.
You always try to build-in an out for yourself when you make your ridiculous predictions.
That is sort of a prerequisite with every prediction. I believe I'm good at judging talent and then applying that to predict how good a player or team will be. I am however not a fortune teller who can predict the future. If all our key players get injured (as happened last year) then obviously we won't have as much success as we would if they stay healthy.
