The point is, we go way past "defending our country" with military spending.

Spend $$$$$$ on helping kids eat - or a new fighter jet we don't need? I think the answer is easy.

Which isn't to say there isn't a ton of waste in our social programs, there obviously is.

Truth right here.

Ultimately, Rubio is too soft on immigration to win the nom. He's right.

You might be surprised. I'm not in the Rubio camp by any means but I think you are selling the R primary voter a little short. There will be motivated and realistic voters this time.

It's all in how he sells himself.

Its a deal breaker for enough of the base that he's going to get hounded for having supported reform, at all. Even when these guys try to temper it with some kind of " Secure the borders first" vagary, the fact is they get cornered pretty quickly that they are inviting those here illegally to stay. And for the GOP base, ....

Ted Cruz is really the only Republican candidate/potential candidate who has remained steadfast in his opposition to Amnesty for Illegal Aliens.

Paul, Rubio, Walker, Bush, etc., are all for Amnesty for illegal aliens.

Paul, Walker, and Rubio have shape-shifted on the issue, but they are all in favor of the proverbial Comprehensive Immigration Reform.

I agree that wasting money is wasting money, whether its' defense or otherwise. there needs to be accountability, but our fed gov job is to defend America, not provide I-phones to the world.

We seem to be able to better defend America in the Middle East and Ukraine instead of the Mexican border lately...

The last Republican nominee for POTUS that remained steadfast in his far right wing beliefs was destroyed in the general. That would be Barry Goldwater.

Americans in general have bought in to the Multi Culturalism ethos. Many Republicans who were once anti communist, pro family, pro life, and pro American, are now almost exactly the opposite.

Ted Cruz has little chance of gaining the Republican nomination. The candidate will be someone like Bush or Walker. When all is said and done, there is little difference between the Likely Republican nominee and Hillary Clinton.

I'd rather spend money teaching people not to have kids they can't feed.

In a sense, you are helping to make his point, because we incentivize women to have kids without picking good fathers. Govt becomes their husband. It is a generational disaster in the making.

This country would have been far better off with Goldwater instead of LBJ. That was the turning point of this Republic.

By electing Johnson instead of Goldwater, we got a huge expanded WAR in Vietnam with more than 500,000 troops fighting there.

By electing Johnson instead of Goldwater, the streets of America erupted into Violence; the blacks setting cities on fire and looting, and the Anti-War protesters bombing buildings.

Yes, the American people surely made the right decision in the 1964 election by not electing the right-wing "extremist" Barry Goldwater.
