2015 starting lineup prediction

If Gaulden continues to progress and Justin Martin is as good as he's supposed to be, combine that with the great safety play and Cam Sutton and we finally have a secondary that is as good as anyone in the conference.

If we can get Mike Williams back to add depth, Secondary may be the best around.

You make some points that I like. Here's how we stacked up this year in passing efficiency defense:

Team Passing Efficiency Defense | FBS Football Statistics - NCAA.com

I saw this year that TKjr was often in great position to make a play, but maybe needed a little more time in the weight room (I'm thinking of a specific play here against Vandy. goal line play. he came up to hit the rb and just barely lost the 1v1.). I think he will be special this coming year.

The correct answer is...

QB - Josh Dobbs
RB - Jalen Hurd
WR - Marquez North
WR - Von Pearson
WR - Pig Howard
TE - Ethan Wolf
OT - Dontavius Blair
OT - Kyler Kerbyson
OG - Marcus Jackson
OG - Jashon Robertson
C - Mack Crowder

For the first time in forever, we don't have to redo the entire starting lineup from the year prior. Butch has called O-line a developmental position. Only one lineman leaves. Seriously doubt we reinvent the wheel by starting Jack Jones, Charles Mosley, Coleman Thomas, et al. Their day will come.

DE - Derek Barnett
DE - Curt Maggitt
DT - Danny O'Brien
DT - Kahlil McKenzie
LB - Dillon Bates
LB - Jalen Reeves-Maybin
NB - Emmanuel Moseley
CB - Cam Sutton
CB - Justin Martin
S - Brian Randolph
S - LaDarrell McNeil

In the 4-3, Maggitt moves back to LB, Moseley comes off and Corey Vereen comes in to DE.

I think Bates is the guy who gets tabbed for LB over Jakob Johnson and Kenny Bynum (and Kirkland, for that matter). Kahlil is just too powerful. I think he's better than Owen Williams now.

Yep, combine an improved Kelly with the ever solid leader of the secondary, Randolph, and the surprising depth of Mcneil... That's a really strong top 3 for any position group.

I think the following:

QB - Dobbs
RB - Hurd
WR - North
WR - Pearson
Slot - Howard
TE - Wolfe
RT - Kerbyson
RG - Jackson
C - Thomas
LG - Robertson
LT - Blair

DE - Barnett
DT - Williams
DT - O'Brien
DE - Maggitt
OLB - Reeves-Maybin
MLB - Bynum
OLB - Bates
CB - Sutton
CB - Martin
S - Randolph
S - Kelly, Jr.
NB - Gaulden or Berry

I believe Owen Williams starts the Bowling Green game at DT and will start there the first two or three games. I believe that by game 4 MacKenzie will replace him as the starter.

I believe that our MLB will be Bynum for the first game but that could change depending upon how Kirkland and Bryant play against Bowling Green. I fully expect one of these two to be the starter at MLB by game 3.

Kerbyson will be the starting RT until someone else is deemed ready to go. I believe that person will be Big Charles Mosely. Once that happens, Kerbyson will slide down to the RG position or the C position. He will not be on the bench this year at all. CDM calls him the best interior lineman in the group and he will be on the field. I think when all is said and done, he is the starting C.

The two deep is more important than the starting line up... and especially in the DL positions.

QB- Dobbs/Peterman or Fr
RB- Hurd/Kamara/Fr
TE/HB- Wolf/Ellis/Creamer (underrated group btw)
WR- North/Malone/Williams
WR- Croom/Pearson/Smith
Slot- Howard/Jenkins/Wharton/Johnson
RT- Kerbyson/Kendrick/Jones
RG- Robertson/Wiesman
C- Crowder/Thomas
LG- Jackson/Sanders/Raulerson
LT- Blair or Kerbyson or Kendrick or Fr

DE- Barnett/Lewis/Mixon
DT- McKenzie or Saulsberry/Tuttle
DT- O'Brien/O Williams/Picou
DE- Maggitt/Vereen/Phillips
MLB- Bynum/Johnson/Bryant (Johnson is listed as a DE on the winter roster, someone else could move to MLB)
OLB- JRM/Bates/Weatherd/Berry/McDowell/Kirkland/King (been a long time since UT went that deep with talent at OLB)
CB- Sutton/Gaulden/Foreman
CB- Mosely/Martin/Abernathy
S- Randolph/Berry/
S- McNeil/Kelly/Swafford

Good roster. No longer abnormally dependent on Fr.

I think when all is said and done, he is the starting C.

I am all but certain that Crowder will be the starting C. Jackson is going to start at one OG. If Kerbyson slides inside then Robertson is going to play behind him.

C - Crowder
LG - Jackson
LT - Blair

DE - Barnett (all-american)

DT - O'Brien
DE - Phillips
OLB - JRM
MLB - Kirkland Jr. (freshman all-american)
OLB - Maggitt
