It's an Insider article

ATH Jauan Jennings, Tennessee, ESPN 300 ranking: 190

He was lightly recruited as a dual-threat QB, but in all reality everyone projected him as a safety or wide receiver. Jennings just needed to realize it and it didn’t take long once he arrived in Knoxville. He surprisingly played quickly and has adapted further ahead of schedule than expected to the little nuances of playing wide receiver full time. He’s a terrific athlete who will only continue to get better and is a natural playmaker.

I hope he stays at WR

This, and I don't think Byrd switches either. We're fine at safety (TK Jr., Abernathy, Warrior, Berry, Griffin) as long as we stay healthy, and we've actually got a lot of experience at CB (Gaulden, Martin, Moseley) with some promising young guys behind them.

By contrast, Jennings, Smith and Byrd are our only three returning WRs who've seen any significant playing time. We're not going to switch Byrd and/or Jennings with a new QB and so little experience at WR.

Byrd and Jennings will be a force next year, along with Josh Smith. Then several options in depth. We're in good shape at WR atm.

CBJ should let Azzanni go and let Jennings take over coaching the WR's. I really wish the others could mirror his in game intensity levels. He gives it all on every single play. Blocking, deep throws, curls. Doesn't matter. He's a machine.

You're right. Clemson's rightfully taken over the title of WRU but we have great depth at the position. Callaway, George, and hopefully Jordan Murphy will be academically eligible for the upcoming season...Now we just have to wait and see which qb will be throwing to them this season.

You might not move Byrd and/or Jennings because you don't want to hurt the offense. But, I don't agree with the assessment that the secondary "will be fine...":

--A lack of speed at safety which hurts the run defense as much as the pass defense
--None of those CBs showed an ability to cover any top flight receiver.
-- TK Jr should be moved to outside LB
--Warrior is most talented but he must develop NOW.

Secondary should be fine because we have a new coach that should help tremendously.. so who's on the field?
At safety we have Abernathy and todd Kelly and corner we had mosely, martin and gaulden.. now throw in Nigel who can literally play all of these spots plus Osborne.. we are fine

As for Todd Kelly playing LB.. I don't really see it. there is no reason for it. We play a lot of nickel anyways (gaulden) that DK Jr. and Cortezz are gonna start at those positions.. then jumper and Bituli behind them .. I don't really see a point JMO

Martinez was the weak link. Not the players.

Tennessee simply can not afford to move him with the departure of Malone. Moving him would not spell success for Tennessee or a first year OC

I don't see where he's indispensable unlike Jennings. There's potential but I see as much or more in Johnson, Callaway and Williams. I'll go with the coaches of course, but hope Coach Warren wins out and puts him where he's potentially special.

In my best Trump voice...WRONG!

UT beat Clemson in an Internet Poll about who the real WRU is. Anything else is fake news.

Byrd absolutely stays at receiver. He's going to be a pro. Jennings is a Clinton-Dix type safety. I promise you he is! I know I'll get killed for this but he is! We are doing him a dis-service by keeping him at receiver. I don't believe he is an NFL receiver. He's a good receiver maybe the best we have. For that reason butch may keep him on offense. He absolutely is an NFL safety!!! Move him now!!

Jennings is now the leader in the WR room with the departure of Malone. He is now the one that younger guys will pattern their practice habits after. The one they will try to imitate. This is huge.

What makes Jennings less of a WR than a safety? I mean I don't see it. His catches beat GA and UF. The UF corner is supposed to be NFL caliber. Jennings beat him. It appears Jennings will be a NFL players no matter what. ???

I guess I see his long frame, his aggressiveness, his ball skills, etc. He would be a plus, and has been, with the WR's. Actually, I think he probably made a huge difference with all the WR's including Malone. Man he's a great Vol! I miss him and he ain't even gone yet!
