I recently watched the 1985/6 Sugar Bowl replay, one of the most prominent wins in Tennessee history, "Tennessee Volunteers 35 v. The Miami 'Sugar' Canes 7"

This win and the atmosphere in the weeks and days leading up to kick-off is responsible for that team to become the 'Sugar Vols'...

A replay of the 1986 Sugar Bowl can be seen in it's full length, including all the pre-game & post-game reporting from Miami's Local News channel, here -->

The reason why I mention this is because I saw something I had lost realization of. In the opening moments of the game, just as it is still done today, the Off/Def starters are detailed for both teams. If you watch this you may be suprised at just how many of that team's starters are native Tennesseeans.

That must have been a result of Coach Major's committment to home-state recruiting control. It's nice to know that Coach Jones seems to be going in this same direction. Everything being done now is what the foundation for future success @ UT is built on.

Butch Jones talks about locking down Tennessee in recruiting well Rivals 2014 has 6 Tennessee kids in the Rivals 250 listed in no particular order.

Vic Wharton DB (Nashville-Independence) - Commit-UT
Josh Malone WR (Gallatin)
Jalen Hurd RB (Herdersonviile)
Todd Kelly Jr DB (Knox-Webb)
Petera Wilson LB (Memphis-White Station)
Alex Bars OL (Nashville-Montgomery Bell Academy)

If we could get all 6 of these kids this would be a great place to start, some positions of need!!!! GBO!!!!!

3 out of 6 so far. Very good chance Malone commits over the weekend. Bars will be here so need to make big impression on him.
