I was just looking at the roster from 2007 and thinking that this team could give them a good game-- I think they're pretty even.

Scout.com: 2007 Tennessee Roster

That team went to the SEC championship game. I could see these VOls losing 4 games and slipping in.

Who do you think wins? I like 2007's linebackers, but this team's offense looks a little more explosive. I think it's pretty even.

If we slipped into the SEC Championship Game at 8-4 this season, the SEC East as a whole would be an embarrassment to the conference.

We're all in consensus that we should go 4-0 out of conference, right? A 4-4 SEC East winner would be atrocious, especially when you look at what's probably coming out of the West (the LSU/Alabama winner at 7-1 or 8-0).

This conference schedule is a helluva lot harder. That team only played two regular season games against teams that finished ranked (#2 Georgia, who was #12 at the time, and #13 Florida, who was #3 at the time). This team will play at least four (somebody from the East will finish ranked. At least one).

But this team may well have given that team a game.

I don't really see the East improving much over last year. I think 4-4 could win it with a tie-breaker thrown in, it's just an uncertainty with all of the teams in the East.

Basically everyone would have to lose all three inter-division games (including the ones against Ole Miss and Auburn), and there would have to be some beating up on each other from within the division. If we sweep the East and get swept by the West, we'll be in the hunt at 9-3. But 8-4. . . no chance.

That 07 team was one lucky team. Talented yes, but we had some luck on our side that year. Not gonna jump the gun and say the 11 team would beat the 07 team. The 07 team would win.

Interesting thoughts nevertheless

The 2007 team would clean the 2011 team's clock.

The early season 2007 squad wouldn't have, we sucked early on that year. Bray might well have torn that secondary up. Now, by season end the 2007 team had become decent. Too early to call on our 2011 team...

Not really. The teams most impressive performance of the season came before getting destroyed by a 6-6 team.

the 2007 vols were outscored in SEC play during the season and made it to atlanta. that will never happen again.

that team was terrible. 2006 vols were much, much better
