advertised. Of course, that statement pretty much fits most years anymore. I think the past season's team did over achieve at some level...but the Outback Bowl and a ranking of 18-25 isn't where most Vol fans want to be.

So get ready for more of the same. The coaches in the SEC are getting better...and the Vols are doing the same things they did in the 80s. Inexperienced QB, a decent receiving corps, marginal pass rush, not enough depth at LB, and a pretty good secondary...equals 3rd in the SEC East and an Outback or Peach Bowl berth.

Just my opinion.

It will come down to UT and UGA for the SEC east. UF's defense should be bad again, and UT will be much better on offense and defense. The winner of the UT/UGA game wins the east, and should win the SEC easily, since lsu and auburn will be down next year.

It's a three horse race with georgia and florida edging us right now. It seems to be the norm these days.

With regard to Georgia, the scoreboard seems to be indicating otherwise lately.

Lack of depth at LB? Mayo, McCoy, McKenzie, Wilson, Myers-White, Frazier, Davis, Thompson, and Donald? That's 9 if you don't know how to count.

Marginal pass rush? The last couple of years are the only ones I can remember where we had a problem w/ pass rush.

Decent receivers? Do you remember Robert Meachem, Jason Swain, Brett Smith, Peerless Price, Joey Kent, Donte Stallworth, Kelly Washington, or Willie Gault? That's just to name a few. They didn't name us WRU for nothing.

The last 2 years we've had a decent secondary, but in my memory we've never had an outstanding secondary. It would have been a lot better if it weren't for the injuries and suspensions.

I agree though, if we don't find good coaches in the offseason then we will probably stay right about where we are now. We have tons of talent coming back and if we can get some good coaches and coach up these players we will be right up there w/ Georgia and Florida conference-wise and nationally.

Maybe Slade will go with Cut, if not he needs to go period.

We have the opportunity to make a significant change, but will advantage be taken?

He's referring to next years team, not all of the WR's we have had in the past. None of the WR's next year can hold a candle to the ones you listed above, hence his statement.

Maybe change your user name to volaholic666, to be tearing down the 2008 Vols already when this season has yet to come to an end.

If you read the first line of his post it says, "statements fits most years anymore". Get ya some.:)

It's in the top 10 anyway. Our defense has been the most improved part of the team since the Bama game.
The defense played well enough to beat LSU.
I agree the Defense improved the second half of the season....But, they still gave up a ton of yards to LSU, and that was the second string QB they had playing to.....They have improved yes, but they still have a LONG way to go.....I think they can def. get there and will get there by next season, I personally am very excited about our 2008 team...

Yes we gave up yards, but not many points, and that 2nd string QB would be 1st string at many schools. Ut's offense gave up the points that cost us the game. I share your opinion of 2008 team. Especially if we use Jones more.

Since when does a list of names count as depth? Outside of Mayo and McCoy most have special teams experience at best. The others? None.

These days? With exception of course to the present.
We will be picked to finish third just like this year. I believe we haven't been preseason favorites since the start of 2005. We all know how that worked out. We should be right in the thick of it again i would think. I was referring to how we are perceived. Not a opinion of how things will go. Now run along.
