So, it's basically two separate four-team, double elimination tournaments, with a single-game final. I have always thought that was a silly format. An eight-team tourney that is double elimination through the final and has no undefeated team facing a team with a loss until the final would be better, IMO. The CWS also uses, IMO, a silly format that involves separate four-team tourneys. I like how the WCWS avoids the situation in which you win your first game, then you lose your second game, and your third game is against the team you beat previously, so now you have to beat them again already.

I'm still excited about the tournament though! Great game last night.
