If you put the beatdown on Cal again this year, tedford should be fired. and i'm not even joking. One loss like that can be excused (I suppose), two are unacceptable (particurally at home) with that much talent.

Heater from the contracostatimes has a breakdown of each position if you are interested: ContraCostaTimes BearTalk Weblog: Cal Sports

I just take issue with you saying Cal will be better but have ?? at CB and d-line. Your d-line was rated #1 by some publications last season and they were handled by our average o-line. And do I really need to explain how bad 1 weak corner can hurt a team?

Cal defensive line coach Ken Delgado was direct. "This will be the most inexperienced group we ever have taken into a season. We have a lot of talent, but it is unproven."

It's obvious that R. Todd Littlejohn has his work cut out for him during spring. Cornerback is a scary position for a Cal team that seems suited to compete for a Pac-10 championship in just about every other area.

yd'Quan Thompson, who has all the tools to be a pro, is only in his second season. He played very well after the first game nightmare last season, but he still was the guy that opponents tried to pick on. Now, he is the man as a sophomore....The other corner should be a free-for-all competition.

No matter who wins the job, it's a give that Cal is going to be very young and inexperienced at the corners.

our dline was vastly overrated last season. mebane is a loss, but every other position should be an upgrade. Our secondary as a whole should be much better than last season. The safety position is very solid with two all american caliber guys starting. Decoud definetly would have been first team pac-10 if he hadn't gotten injured last season. Thompson finished a freshman all american even after your game. and you don't have the WRs to exploit this weakness like you did last season. hopefully this time the new CB will be give proper support by the safeties.

edit: oline will be vastly improved, WRs will be better, QB will be better, safeties will be better, LB should at least be the same. add this up and the team should be better.

Seriously - wtf? Florida will NOT be as strong as 2006, and YOU KNOW IT! Certainly, predicting a win for Tennessee in Gainesville isn't the most likely outcome, but he said "VERY close win" not "BLIZOW IZOUT!"

You can't possibly think Florida is a 100% certainty, or even 80% certainty, to win that game, can you?

ha, apparently so can orange empire.......:)

as for the schedule......i say 9-3...and the three will come from any of the following: Cal, Florida, UGA, Bama, or SC.......we should beat the likes of Southern Miss, Ark St, VAndy, KY, MSU, ARK, ULL...and at lesat two of the 5 above...anything less than 9-3 with that schedule......ugh.

FL and GA should be the only teams that really have the horses to flat out beat us. we should be slightly ahead of Bama and USC and Cal.

but in the end, i think we will have a similar year as 06...still lots of holes to fill, some depth issues up front, and the defense as a whole is a question mark...offensively, i think the running game will be much better, the passing game could struggle compared to last year anyway....and don't forget we are replacing our kicker...s/t still hasn't been great the past couple of years...it was better last year, but not where it needs to be....

I guess you are right, most likely my wife is about 5-6 inches taller than her.

i can see where you are comingj from, i can objectively sit back and say that obviously uga, uf, u of a and usc will all certainly be tough games. but by the time game week rolls around i will be expecting us to win every single one of them because like it has been said in this forum before, UT CAN win every game next year. it's just too bad that doesn't make it true that they WILL win every game next year

We must protect Neyland like the Vols of the late 90's did.

Frankly, im sick of seeing the uga poodles planting thier flag on our power T everytime they row up the Tennessee River.
