L I O,

Wake up, you are dreaming!!!!!!!!

I think that it is unrealistic to think that the Vols are going 11-0 this year. It would be incredible but it is highly unlikely.

9-2 or 8-3 is much more realistic with this team.

We went 13-0 in 1998 when I was sure we would be down and we started 0-6 in 1988 when I thought we had something. Nothing is going to surprise me.

I'll be overly optimistic and say 9-2 just because the schdule is a little soft.

I don't think anybody expected that 98 season. I remember going to a couple of the practices/scrimmages that fall and I thought we would be lucky to win 7 or 8 games. I think 99 had to be the most underachieving team talent wise in recent memory.

In comparison to '98, we don't have a good RB when it turned out we had a very good stable then. The OL has been a major disappointment to me the last several years and I have no reason to believe they will be better. At QB can you remember Matthews, Martin, Colquitt, and Henton. They were the last four guys we had coming in as first-year starters at QB. Martin succeeded but he was not very good early on. I grant Shuler and Colquitt could have been considered co-starters. Bottom-line, our success rate is not good with a first year QB and all except Martin were eventually replaced. On the other side I read we've lost a DL already (G. Jones) due to grades. It is important in ours scheme to have depth there. Fortunately, Chief gets it done.

I think we have to be proud to win 9.

I know, patrick. I just wanted to hear all you guys start yelling.

:eek:lol:

I do think we'll be better than what everybody expects, though.

Good post hillbilly. I agree about the o-line. It hasn't been the same since Jimmy Ray got here. As for Greg Jones, I think there is still hope that he may be able to play.

In '98 I just knew we wouldlose about 2 or 3 games. However I stand by my pics this year.

8-3? You are picking 8-3?

9 - 2 with a loss to Georgia and a loss to either South Carolina or Auburn. I can't even imagine a loss to FLA without losing my lunch!!! A win between the hedges in GA would be great but I don't see it happening. I just hope we figure out who is playing QB.

Yes, 8-3. Tennessee always has a tough year when they bring in a new QB (and no 1998 does not count). 1994, 2000, and now 2004.

I don't look at this situation like '98 at all. I really think a lot of things have changed that can't compare the two.

I say we go 9-2 as well with losses to UGA and Auburn.

I think you are selling ND short. They are ranked in the top 10-20 every year as far as recruiting classes go, so they have talent. They also have the motivation to fight for their coach's job. Don't forget, this is a team that was 10-3 two years ago. I think you will all be very suprised as to the game you get from the Irish.

Secondly, is CJ Leak going to be any good? It seems like all the articles I've read about him portray him as a malcontent who is only concerned with himself. If UT doesn't have leader at QB they could be in for a tough year (although they do have a pretty favorable schedule)

Dude, your team was terrible last year.....aweful....I dont mean to be disrespectful but I really am not worried at all about ND.

Your offense cant get much worse then the last two years and your QB is still a sophmore who struggled immensly last year.

I would say ND has a long way to go.

And they have gone downhill since then. I dont' underestimate them, they are not that good. And yes CJ can be that good, but a leader will emerge, even if it's a freshman. However, the "man" will not be here till next year.

You must be thinking about CHRIS Leak. I have never read where C.J. was anything but a hard worker who was just waiting for his time to shine.
