After spending all day yesterday watching football it became increasingly clear that we are going to have a tough season. Georgia is great, Auburn is great, South Carolina looked bad against Georgia but not bad enough, and Alabama is still Alabama. It’s going to be a tough year.
But there are two bright spots.
1. We play Florida early. I think they are struggling to figure out who they are just like we are. That game should be competitive and ugly and we should have a chance. Later in the year, I’d be worried about our talent versus their talent.
2. We play Kentucky late. I don’t like our chances against them right now. They look good and they know what they do well. Hopefully by the time we play them we will be able to say the same thing.
Just a couple of thoughts after a mostly meaningless game.

Kentucky doesn’t have a strong passing game. I think we create a lot of turnovers via interceptions and 3 and outs. Their best option is the run, if we keep Snell below 100 yards I think we can beat them. Our QB can throw accurate passes and we are loaded at rb. By the time we play them HOPEFULLY the line is more consistent with pass protection.

I didn’t see much of the game but what I did Franks was terrible. That said until the last play it was a 5 pt game. Florida has a legit chance to come back on them but didn’t get the defensive stop until time was too short. If they’d got the 3and out, I think Florida would have come back again.

I agree about playing Florida early and Kentucky late. Florida has issues with defending the run which should help us. If we can keep Scarlett in check and not allow any big plays, we should be able to beat the gators.

Depth will be an issue for Kentucky late in the season and our defense will still be improving towards the end of the season.

Hopefully Pruitt has been able to improve the defense by November, if not UT's in dire Straits (without Mark Knopfler:)

UK dominated the game more than score showed. They owned the LOS all night. Frank's was pretty bad. Got lucky with some that did get caught. UK played very conservative.
