(If this has already been talked about, sorry on my part)

I was reading the paper earlier today when i saw the article on Kiffin and Pearl discussing giving scholarships to friends/fam of a targeted recruit to make him commit and be happy. Kiffin seemed to be completely against it as Pearl was opened minded to it.

I feel if it's a dynamic game changing player...why not? I know 1 player in b-ball has more of an impact than in football, but in football sometimes that 1 player can change everything. How does everyone else feel about this recruiting tactic?

Ron Zook does this a lot.

Rashard Mendenhall was his first big commit (Think Bryce Brown) and at the same time his very overrated 2 star RB brother got a scholarship also. Walter had VERY limited carries and just rode Rashards PT...once He went to the draft, Walter was out of there and went on to Illinois State, and now Rashard hates the UI Program.....I find it hilarious. He also promised Jeryd Fayson playing time at QB, and then I talked to an incoming 3 star from NC the other day on campus and he told me Fayson hasn't lined up at anything other than #2 Wideout....College football is just turning into a big, corrupt business......

If Bruce is going to be wasting one of his scholarships like he does every year then he might as well use it to bring in someone really good with it

Don't do it for the sole purpose that we cannot become a society where 18 year old kids believe themselves to be celebrities because they are good at sports.... I realize that to a large extent that has already happened, and that the all-encompassing "that's just not realistic" excuse can be applied here, but I think we enter a sad point in society when a 18 year old kid is able to dictate scholarships just because we "need him real bad." Let's spend that money on a local boy that busted his @$$ off and dreamed of one day being a Vol. And yes, I cry everytime I watch the Rudy movie. :p

This sounds kind of like the Alabama text book deal.
Along the same lines at least.

I wouldn't hesitate to offer Anderson if it meant getting Scroggins. We need a big time QB in the worst way.

Exactly. We need Scroggins and if it means giving Anderson a schollie to get him...then so be it. We have to land a big QB recruit for next year.

This is not a big surprise! Don't coaches get hired all the time from high school programs because they promise to bring their star players with them.didn't Arkansas do this a few years back? The Mustain kid?

Renaldo is the better player coming out of high school....I don't know where you got the idea that Royce was better because Renaldo is more athletic, better size, idk about shot but he has a lot better stats from high school as well.....Maybe you know something I don't?

Sign them both, surely we can find some playing time for anderson. Kids want a built in friend when they get that far away from home
