We had a decent 1-2 with Malone and Jennings last year.
With Malone leaving, seems like Jennings naturally fills the #1 receiver role.

Who has the best shot at stepping up as the #2 receiver?

Solid off-season thread.

Probably Byrd. But I think it depends on how the rotation works out. IMO, find 2-3 WRs other than Jennings and keep the rotation small.

Already, in his freshman season, I had the same thoughts about Byrd as I did seeing Kamara in his freshman season. Gotta get him the ball more.

I thought the consensus from spring practice was that Callaway was looking like the #2 guy.

I would go with Callaway as 2nd and Byrd as 3rd guy. Lets not forget Josh Smith. A healthy Josh Smith with all that experience could be a solid #2 guy if Callaway doesn't live up to hype or gets injured.

I know this is a 2nd reciever thread but the way Dormady was throwing at the spring game, AND Wolf catching the ball, Wolf might be the 2nd highest yardage reciever!

Byrd needs to stay in the slot.

How tall is he? I'm not certain he could be more effective as the #2WR than he is in the slot.

I'm hoping Josh stays healthy and has a good year.

Callaway will be 2a and Byrd 2b. Hopefully Byrd will be used in multiple ways; jet sweeps, motions, slants and outs, anything where he can get the ball in space.

WR1: Jauan Jennings
Josh Smith/Jeff George

Slot: Tyler Bryd
Latrell Williams

WR2: Marquez Callaway
Brandon Johnson/Jordan Murphy

Something like this. JMO

Jeff George is a wildcard.

Tyler Byrd, hands down. It's Byrd

Needs to be Byrd

Needs to be the 2nd best WR!

Byrd/Calloway/Healthy Josh Smith are all possibilities with lots of talent.

L. Williams will be the sleeper guy IMO.

However, if the O&W game is any indication, #2 Rec could be TE Ethan Wolf.

Look at last years passing stats:

Jennings got 580 yds last year. Seemed like he did a lot better than that.

Wolf got 239 yds
Byrd 209 yds
Callaway only got 13 yds on 1 catch.

Hard to believe from those stats, but I still think Dormady throws for over 3,500 yds this year with his eyes shut.

Preston Williams really jumped ship a little early, didn't he?

Jmho, but I don't think George will be a factor at all. I think it's Jennings, Byrd, Callaway and Brandon Johnson. If Josh Smith is healthy he contributes a bit as well and perhaps Latrell Williams' very good spring translates as well.
