SO after the Bama game all the talk was how we would ever get on their level, now we have seen the 2nd 5* recruit say they want out and butch is bringing in a class thats loaded with 3*'s, how do you think the next few years will be when his roster isn't much more talented than what he had an Cincy?

wait, I missed signing day?

Hurd was gone this year no matter what and the other got beat out by a QB who had never played WR in his life

Yes. Also the sky is falling and there's either a glitch in the matrix or the mandela effect is real which is why it seems like the same threads but with different words each time you enter them.

Sorry but we just saw saturday what all his 3* ath/db were able to do in our secondary against a BAD usce team. For every 1 3* that does work out to be pretty good we have 20 more 3 and 4* that haven't gotten any better since they stepped foot on campus.

I get that alot of these players were gone anyway, thats why I wasn't jumping on the injury excuse. Most fo the major injuries were players that weren't going to be here next year anyway. The problem is CBJ and staff aren't bringing in any decent talent and even the best players in Knoxville laugh at us and go to other schools, and the rest of the state we now take what the others weren't willing to put much effort into.

Sorry but this is exactly how the Dooley years ended. Dooley brought in some decent talent the first couple years and once his system was seen and known and he showed the world what kinda coach he was, we could only get the class CBJ has now.

The reality is our recruits won't be able to beat Bama, but only Ohio State is recruiting on that level. Our recruits will be good enough to win 8+ games a year if we bring in assistant coaches that know what they are doing. The plan should be to hold steady until the black hole in Tuscaloosa stops pulling in all the top talent and that only happens when Saban retires. The only reason Butch should be fired is if we are 100% sure we will get someone like Chip Kelly that is a proven winner.

I don't care about stars anymore. Prove it on the field.

Bama's, Clemson, FSU, OSU, Michigan's recruits do. They get the best of the best players and it shows. Until we start getting those guys on a consistent basis, we will be on the outside looking in.

Stars matter

Alabama dominates because they are either #1 or #2 in the recruiting rankings since 2007

They have more talent in their 3rd string than we do on our whole team

Recruiting a majority of 3* players will not make a championship team

One thing I know for sure... a 3* that shows up is better than a 5* that won't compete.

Id say ole Butch always has something up his sleeve for national signing day. I would love to see a star studded class, but Butch has found a lot of talent. We are considered to have had one of the most talented rosters in the SEC. I don't question their ability to evaluate talent. The comment about he black hole above is also correct. That is a once in a lifetime issue, though. Sucks its Bama, but that's life.

Bottom line, we are recruiting at a high and we just need to put it all together on the field.

Same thing was said when Dooley was here

We cant afford to fall behind in talent

We struggle to win with the most talented team we have had in a decade

We certainly wont when 3* players are lined up on both sides of the ball

I know it sounds bad and disrespectful to those guys, but its just the honest truth

I agree. I didn't say we should load up on 3* talent and try to win in spite of it. I'm just saying that there's no point in crying over spilled milk when a 5* leaves.

It is, but a good number of posters are in denial about the 2017 recruiting class. But hey, it's only October,

What's more amazing is that so many posters acknowledged after the Bama game that there was a Grand Canyon sized gap in talent but there doesn't seem to be a lot of concern over our very underwhelming (for now) class. How do these people expect us to keep up with a 20 3* class?
