Football Scoop dropped two announcements of off field staff additions on the scoop today.

Tennessee: The Vols have announced the additions of Brandon Lawson (director of scouting), Chanelle Smith-Walker (director of content), Jessica Stinger (assistant director of recruiting), Charlie High (scouting coordinator offense), Trey Johnson (scouting coordinator defense) and Angela Brummet (director of recruiting).

Tennessee: Scott Altizer has joined the staff as director of football relations. Altizer previously spent two decades in Knoxville and returns after seven years in athletic administration at Chattanooga, including the past three as deputy athletics director. He previously served on Vols staffs under Butch Jones, Derek Dooley and Phil Fulmer in a variety of roles. Also, Jake Breske, who previously worked as director of recruiting for Missouri, has officially joined the staff as well.

How is Angela Brummet qualified to be the director of recruiting for UT football? How is Jessica Stimger qualified to be asst director of recruiting? This is a legitimate question. How are they qualified to have key positions overseeing football recruiting for UT? I sincerely hope in this time where TN really needs to get things right and recruiting will be key to that process, that TN is not trying to make social justice hires instead of finding the right people for these vitally important roles.

I hear what you’re saying. I was thinking roles with those titles had more responsibilities than our previous hostess program.if they’re job is to look good as opposed to making strategic recruiting decisions based on a strong background of evaluating talent on the football field at an elite level then we’re all set

Y’all do realize they can be hot and good at their job at the same time, right?

I get what you was saying, they both have backgrounds in the same position they currently hold. So hopefully they know what they're doin! But it won't hurt that they're easy on the eyes!

Why are you demanding to know the qualifications of the women hired but not the men?

What makes you think they are not qualified? Both have quality resumes, holding similar positions at other division one schools.

Surprised you didn’t add in the Black hires as well, boomer. Just bc they are female, doesn’t mean they can’t do the job. Your sexism is showing.

I get it that fans will be fans, but the unreasonable expectations are becoming nauseating. Some of y'all think that the top people from all the top programs are clamoring to work at UT and that we should not expect anything less.

We can only hire people that take the job.

Director of recruiting involves planning official visits, recruiting events, social media, sending out recruiting mail, etc. I would much rather have women escorting me around than men if I were a high school recruit. And they both have a background in these positions so that makes it even better. Smart hiring if you ask me.

Exactly. On campus recruiting (hosting) is not the same as off-campus recruiting by coaches.

Angela Brummett was previously director of on-campus recruitment at UCF. Prior to that she was an IT recruiter, and before that an assistant in football recruiting at the University of Tennessee.

Jessica Stinger was previously a football recruiting assistant at IU, recruiting operations grad assistant at MTSU, directory of on-campus recruiting at Nebraska, and director of football recruiting at Colorado State.

All of this is on LinkedIn, BTW.

Unlike many of the men we've hired in the athletic department lately, they each have experience in the roles they've taken.

USC had already hired her...wonder what Mickey Mouse operation they’re running over there!
