Yup! How many times have you seen a video of a kicker getting chatty with his team mates on a sideline? Nobody wants to associate with them for fear that their MOJO might be damaged. The only position on the field that could feasibly remain socially distanced and also could wear a mask with little discomfort
He was only going to get to kickoff once every game. No huge loss. JK!Vandy Kicker Opts out
Vanderbilt kicker Oren Milstein opts out of 2020 season over COVID-19 concerns
I know it is Vandy and a kicker but I think this is only the first of many.
There are more important things than football. Especially with a Vandy degree. The majority of their players are there for the degree, not relying on pro football contracts as most of our players.
Nothing wrong with that.
He is a grad transfer. So he probably never actually attend Vandy, much less get a degree there. Don’t overestimate the number of Vandy players that are there to get a degree. Vandy fans, all ten of them, will tell you they have these high entrance requirements and there football players are there because of the education but don’t believe them. Look what most of them get or attempt to get a degree in.There are more important things than football. Especially with a Vandy degree. He can’t comfortably wear a mask and yell the “anchor down” mantra at the same time. Cut him some slack. Mommy and daddy didn’t pay for school for him to wear a mask and not have the freedom to wear his Birkenstock’s on the sidelines as he will never get a chance to kick this season due to a horrific offense. The only position on the field that could feasibly remain socially distanced and also could wear a mask with little discomfort
Granted that he will not be scoring many points but kick offs at Vandy is a huge job
