What????? How are rankings not about the quality of a team. U are saying the samething im saying. I know strength of schedule plays a role and so do a ton of other factors. At the end of the day the quality of your team affects your rankings. If u are in a trash conference playing cupcakes every week your undefeated record means nothing compared to even a 2 loss SEC runner-up. Yeah UCF beat Auburn in the peach bowl but lets be real Aurburn thought they were going to a natty that year and didnt show after they lost to uga. U tell me Alabama & Georgia werent the 2 most loaded teams that year. The very next year they opened at #1 & #3. If u lost 5 games idc what conference u are in u shouldnt be ranked high. 5 SEC teams finished with less then 5 losses. If u not the top of the SEC how are u better then the rest of the country?? When i say the quality of your team i mean it doesnt matter where u play u are going to be a top dog. The rankings typically reflect that. This is why Bama, UGA, Clemson,OSU, OU, & LSU are usually at the top of ranking. With all that being said, UNC & Iowa st were 7-6. We shouldnt be top 15 but neither of those teams should be ahead of us.

The only thing I am saying is that the quality of the team is not the ultimate driving factor of ranking. Matchups and strength of schedule are. How likely is this team to succeed given their schedule. This is almost always how any Power 5 team will be judged. Group of 5 teams will always be discounted because of schedule. UCF may have been the highest quality team ever, but because they didnt have a good schedule they got discounted. We will never know because they never played an SEC schedule. What a ranking really is is everyones best guess as to where everyone will end up at the end of the year when the champion is crowned.

Again, if you take the exact same players off of UTs team and put them on Louisiana Tech's football team with their schedule then they would be ranked way lower. It's the exact same "quality" because its the exact same team, but different circumstances.

If any team is ranked higher than UT its because people looked at the quality of the team and also their schedule and matchups and decided that UNC/Iowa St or whoever will end up having a better season than Tennessee. Most likely because nobody believes that UT will do very well against a schedule that includes UF. UGA, AU, UA and TAMU meanwhile UNC plays ND and VT as the two toughest teams. If both teams end up with similar records then UT would be ranked higher. But the belief is UNC will have a better record than UT and so they are ranked higher.

LSU is absolutely loaded this year...
QB Brynnan is very good.
Have a 5 star WRs along with Jh'Marr Chase.
A very fast defense. Loaded at RB.
How good will Brennan be when he gets hit by an SEC caliber DE for the first time? Will he be JG or TL?

Funny thing is we got a 5* Qb, four 5* olineman, two 4* Rb's, & like five 4* WR's, with a better returning defense then LSU had but we not even ranked.

But we don't know who our starting qb will be though. Good play from qb will be the key to a good season for us, whoever, the qb is.
