Ive got

Secondary- '16 (taking into account that all players are healthy only)

Linebackers- '98

D Line- '16 (absolute key to this year's defensive success)

Quarterback- '98 (very slight edge to Tee for throwing accuracy and overall consistency)

Backfield- '98

Receivers- '16 (slight edge to these guys admittedly somewhat based on potential because I love me some Peerless Price)

Offensive line- '98 (and it's not close)

Special teams- '16

Head to Head I have '98 beating '16 by a score of 20-17 as of right now with this caveat...if this team can continue to play the rest of the season like they did the second half against Florida, they will win the national championship and be better than the '98 team.

So who you got?

The 98 secondary was better. The 16 line might be better and I think Dobbs has played better at QB than Tee. The difference at linebacker is stark, though, and that backfield had 4 future NFL running backs (though Stephens' career never took off).

I'll take 98 all the way until we have another championship group.

Until then let's win the next one. If this season taught us anything it's that expectations are a dangerous thing

I'd take '98 special teams in a heart beat...

Receivers '98 as well...

Receivers, maybe. But other than Jeff Hall, who would you rather have?? Berry is the best KO returner in school history and Sutton (healthy) is arguably one of the top punt returners. Would also give Daniel the edge at P.

I'd take the '98 defensive line in a heartbeat. Depth was incredible. I'd favor the '98 secondary as well.

You think the NC team would only beat this team by 3? The 98 defense would obliterate this offensive line. Peerless Price, Cedrick Wilson, Travis Henry etc. moving the ball down the field...C'mon man...this isn't even fair.

The amount of nfl talent on the 98 team was ridiculous. Not sure if this is a good comparison. But then again, maybe I am underestimating some of our 16 guys.

Our special teams that year were fantastic...

Take Terry Fair and Peerless Price over any returner we have on the roster...

David Leaverton too...

I would take the entire 98 team over 2016. Offensive and defensive lines were better. DBs, wrs, LBs,RBs,and QBs were all better. That NC team was complete, no weak links. No comparison until there's a NC for 2016. 98 would win by 10+. Not a good match up for 2016.

Give me Dobbs all day everyday over Tee....more accurate passer, much better runner, overall just a better playmaking QB

I'll also take the 1998 trio of Price, Wilson and Copeland at WR until further notice. Malone and Jennings are closing the gap, but those guys had 120+ catches that year and Price was special.

Do you realize how many WR's from that 98 team went pro?

QB I would take Dobbs all day over Tee with a decent oline. People knock Dobbs for things he really has no control over. People didn't think Vick could pass either till he got out of Atlanta and behind a decent line.

RB don't be ridiculous I dont think any team in history had this much RB talent on one roster ever.

WR/TE Again no comparison these guys all produced and most went on to the pros. We have not had a guy thats put up enough numbers to get drafted yet. do we have the talent to maybe compare? yeah but there is no production. Croom is the second coming of David Martin, the Joshes could be compared to Kent and Eric Parker and so on.. but the production isn't there yet.

Oline...not even getting into that ridiculousness. we really do have talent it just no showing on the field.

Dline We have bodies all over the place this year comparable to the talent level the 98 RB's had so thats a win.

LB no contest. We have good guys but Al Wilson+Raynoch> JRM+Kirkland plus they had Westmoreland too

Secondary. They had Deon grant and some good guys we have Cam Sutton and a bunch of guys. TKJr breaks the tie.

Special team Kicking game is a push...Berry/Sutton/Kamara bring home the win but 98 had good returners just not as electric.

Coaching Hindsight being 20/20 the only person on this coaching staff I would swap out and it pains me to say is Phil for CBJ '98 Phil was at his peak and immediately was done after that the rest of the coaching staff was outstanding. But if we stop time at that year to look at it Phil and the 98 staff win.

That team put multiple guys in the pro's all these guys spent time on nfl rosters

QB
Tee Martin coffee and a tea

Secondary
Deon Grant long career multiple pro bowls

WR
Cedrick Wilson long career
Peerless Price long carreer
David Martin fiarly long career as TE
Eric Parker long career
Jermaine Kent a coffe

RB
Shawn Bryson decent career
Travis Stevens long career
Jamal Lewis pro bowl
Travis Henry pro bowl
Philip Crosby a coffee
LB
Al Wilson pro bowler
Eric Westmoreland journeyman
Raynoch Thompson long career

Dline
Darwin Walker long career
Shaun Ellis pro bowler

So you have Dobbs more accurate then Tee but then cite how many receptions the '98 receivers had? I definitely think Tee's accuracy has something to do with that.

Ya'll are puffin if you think Dobbs is better then Tee Martin atp. Plus plug Tee into this offense and he completes a higher percentage of passes (and hit them in stride better) opening up the run (which is the correct order this offense should opperate) by him and our backs better.
