Pruitt has cemented his position as the worst football coach in Tennessee history. And is at least in the conversation as the worst coach in SEC Football history.

Agreed!

My personal lists go like this:

Best Five: 1--Neyland, 2--Fulmer, 3--Majors, 4--Barnhill, 5--Dickey
Worst Five: 1--Pruitt, 2--Dooley, 3--DePree, 4--Kiffin, 5--Britton

I know we tend to over-emphasize those coaches we were alive to see, because we have visceral memories of them in ways we don't the fellas from the history books. I've tried to overcome that in my lists, ranking them as if I were actually there to watch them all.

Plenty of Fulmer-haters are gonna argue his position on the list, as well, it's just the nature of the Tennessee fan base that we're so bitterly divided on him and Johnny Majors. I personally think a lot of both. As coaches. Not ADs (in Fulmer's case).

Go Vols!

Mike Hamilton and it's not even close. He destroyed every Men's program in the UT Athletics Dept.
Yes, he started us down the road to mediocrity and eventual total dysfunction. He was driving the car when we took the wrong exit and got lost on the backroads with no GPS

So if I question Fulmer’s position on your list over Majors and Dickey I’m therefore automatically a “Fulmer hater”? Just want to be clear.

No matter how much you hate Fulmer, how could you possibly put him any lower than 2nd best all time? 2nd all-time in wins, and one of only 2 UT coaches (our 1967 national title claim is ridiculous) to win a national title.

If your older like me then you can remember when Fulmer directed the NCAA to violations that Bama committed and it's been a hated feud every sense then. I believe that Pruitt was just a pawn by Alabama to take down Fulmer and Tennessee. It worked getting Fulmer to resign before he got fired and we will see how bad they screwed UT. I have no doubt Pruitt was paid big money by Bama Bubba boosters. JMO
