'18 GA RB Anthony Grant (FSU signee)

IDT the new staff ever expected Grant to sign, and Coach G is the one who seems to really want him. Pruitt seems to be into the idea of finding under-the-radar offensive playmakers-- and some could sign after NSD.

The new staff wants a more explosive power back-- and Tavion Thomas is a better fit than Grant. We're still in play for Thomas, and Grant's been looking around, so this one has been fluid on both sides.

You really think we’re in play for Thomas? He’s never visited though right? Aren’t grades an issue as well?

Low probability, IMO. We made his final four, but he didn't visit and it would be surprising if he didn't end up at OSU or Okla-- or JUCO first, because of grades. He visited OSU but IDT he visited Okla before committing there.

Thomas is more of the downhill runner Pruitt wants, so it's possible we could try to work something out if he wants to be a Vol. Gooden was a long shot because of grades and now it might work out, so they're being flexible.

Always seemed like a we would take him because we can find somewhere for him to play but weren't going to exhaust all resources to do it

Tuesday thoughts – Grant is the lone unsigned commitment who was committed to Butch Jones and his staff. The question is will he become a Vol signee? Grant visited Tennessee officially but has also visited FSU, UNC and Virginia Tech. Tennessee's new staff slowed-played Grant in December when they arrived and people in and around Buford High School have felt for the last couple of weeks that Grant was likely to sign some where other than Tennessee — most likely Va. Tech.

Simonton says this isn’t over yet. We have pushed hard and he is having 2nd thoughts on a flip.

Anthony Grant just yet. Hearing Tennessee pushed hard here Tuesday, giving the RB pause about a flip. FSU and Va. Tech making strong runs, too. Grant is set to decide early in a.m.

I'm good with it. Roll with Banks this year. Make Eric Gray from Memphis and one of the 5 star backs we've offered in 19 a priority.

It was up and down with Tennessee here, and very late, the Vols tried to hold on, but couldn't. We know Gillespie liked Grant a lot, so this is a tough loss for him, not just the Tennessee staff. Virginia Tech made a strong run here, and at one time, the Hokies looked like the favorite despite Grant still be committed to Tennessee. Grant visited Blacksburg multiple times, but in the end, that final official visit to Florida State sealed the deal and put Grant in garnet and gold.
