"We're in on bigger fish."
"He doesn't fit our 3-4."
"He isn't a take."
"He didn't hit it off with Mason."
"He doesn't have a large enough trust fund balance"
"He's not a big enough arrogant ass"
"He hasn't been involved in a gang rape"
Signed,
Delusional Vandy "Fan"
Also retweeted this. Shows the thoughts of Nashville recruits everywhere:
@CoachLo26: @dbc5361 @JakeArnoldVFL @K72_Phillips @JoejuanW not like Vandy has even made recruiting Nashville much of a priority. Haven't seen 1 coach
@Coachlo26 appears to be a Hillsboro High School coach... Dustin Lopez. Looks like he played a little arena ball.
Mason is so Dooley it's not even funny. Though he at least coordinated a great Stanford defense... I think. I'm not even positive Mason knows that Vanderbilt is in Nashville TN.
The easy cop out is saying he doesn't fit a 3-4. A 4-3 DE is basically the equivalent of a rush LB in a 3-4. My guess is that Bama wants him at 3-4 DE which would mean bulking him up, while Vandy fans have it in their head he couldn't be a great 3-4 OLB. The problem with that is you recruit the best players and move them around. For us take JRM, he was an elite caliber player, but didn't really have a set position. RB/S/OLB. You get him here and deal with it later. For Kyle Vandy should have wanted him as a 3-4 OLB and if he proved to be not athletic enough you move him to 3-4 DE. Simple as that. You take any elite player, especially when they are local. It's their way of coping with missing on a local kid with ties to the university not even slightly interested in their pathetic football program. Kyle is a smart guy, he saw that school for what it is.Let me get this straight. Vandy fans say that he doesn't fit their 3-4. Meanwhile Alabama is after him pretty hard. That just doesn't add up.
And Vandy fans claim mason was a better recruiter than Franklin. It's very hard to talk football with them because half of what they say isn't true. One claimed Mason would be great since he was a defensive coordinator. Example against this is Muschamp. Also find it funny since they have won 2 in a row suddenly it's a "rivalry"The easy cop out is saying he doesn't fit a 3-4. A 4-3 DE is basically the equivalent of a rush LB in a 3-4.
