"I know whole lot more about Texas than a lot of the other places because they are the same staff that offered me at Louisville," Gentry said. "I actually went and met them I in person last summer. I'm just familiar with them. I have a good relationship with Coach [Shawn] Watson, who is the quarterback coach there now. Then, with the facilities and the tradition, it's hard not to like it."
Gentry may visit Texas this offseason and is in the process of discussing those details with his father. Other trips, however, are already set in stone. Gentry will visit Tennessee on Mar. 29 and Oklahoma State on Apr. 5.
"A couple weeks after Oklahoma State, I'm going to visit Alabama for the spring game. After that, we'll probably be able to fit Texas in somewhere. I'm pretty sure we will."
"Quarterbacks commit early and I just want to be able know where I'm headed going into my senior year," Gentry said. "I'll have a commitment by the summer."
"It's awesome. Texas is big time, lots of fan support," Gentry said. "They have great facilities, it's a great university with lots of tradition and history. It's a great program overall."
"My strength overall s my arm strength and my accuracy. Being the size I am, 6-6, 230, people think I'm not as quick or fast as a quarterback should be," Gentry said. "I timed in the mid 4.6 range last summer, so I'm a little faster than people think I am. Another thing people question is the strength of schedule in New Mexico. But I would say my strengths are my arm strength, accuracy and mobility."
"I think they're a great hire. Texas, i think they know what they're doing. He was extremely successful at Louisville, and coach Strong built a really strong program there," Gentry said. "I was able to experience it first-hand last summer. I have had a pretty good relationship with staff since last summer. I think it was a good hire."
This is amazing. When I mentioned that places like texas might be a problem yesterday it was doom and gloom on me...:ermm:
No, you should realize by now that big time players get big time offers. We're not recruiting a bunch of scrubs. Jones is gonna have to go against Texas and win this one. That's what happens when you're trying to win National Championships, you're in constant competition with other powers.
Idk about you, but I want the best players. Best players have the best offers. If we're gonna back down every time Ohio State and Auburn offers, then we're better off in the American Conference.
