'15 NC DT Shy Tuttle (UT commit 9/26/14)

UNC fans are really butthurt that these allegations are literally costing them in recruits such as this...understandable...but cry us a river. :cray: Rival programs had a field day using it against us!

They're upset because that was their recruiting pitch. "Come to Chapel Hill and you will never have to bother with that stupid class work thing. We'll take care of it."

I agree with a lot of what you said. But why should we leave out UNCs academic fraud? It probably plays a huge role in their recruiting class. You don't think coaches bring this up to recruits who are looking to possibly go to UNC?

As hard a Butch obviously pushes academics with recruits, I'm sure he would say, "We care whether you get an education." Easy sell and not directly negative toward UNC.

Everyone does. You've got to play the cards in your hand in the most effective way possible to win in recruiting. You can't hold on to the NCAA sanction card to try and be a gentleman.

I would call it a matter of semantics. There is negative recruiting (spreading rumors, speculation and lies) and factual recruiting (verifiable information that is unfavorable to a competitor). It is factual recruiting to emphasize to Shy Tuttle that UNC is under NCAA investigation and that an athlete's degree from UNC-Chapel Hill has been tainted by this ongoing academic scandal. UNC's trump card in head to head recruiting battles with UT has always been that their degree was superior to ours. If Butch isn't taking a steamy dump on that card right now then he isn't doing his job as well as I think - factual not negative recruiting.

I know, I was assuming if we landed both LOve and Frasier, Reid would look around and probably go elsewhere

If I'm not mistaken, this Reid kid showed out on the same team as D Scott.. why would you assume all of this when we just took his commitment this summer and he hasn't even played a snap of his senior year. He will show out, and you can run and tell that.

And butchna I'm glad we could finally agree on something. Love may be rated higher but what is a rating really.. an educated opinion? Butch please..

EDIT: Thanks TCV, I knew they played together in a round-about sort of way. Thanks for clarifying. :clapping:

Reid played for Concord. Scott was with Havelock. They met in the State Championship game. Scott and Reid both had around 200 yards rushing in that game, I believe.
