'15 JUCO RB Alvin Kamara (UT commit 6/21/14)

It is not a rules infraction for a parent, guardian, or a friendship beyond that of football to travel with a person whos family is enrolled with or has a scholly. Also Mzterry is not an employee, on payroll of any type, or even a representative of The University of Tennessee. She is the mother of a student athlete, a VFL, & a smart woman. This would be of no violation.

pretty sure uga is def in it for him

i dont think he's really leaning anywhere yet or atleast he doest have a obvious fav

Saw an article online with quotes from Kamara after his UGA visit that implied his mother preferred him to stay close to home at Georgia. Not sure how accurate the information is though. Proximity shouldn't exclude UT if that's a big factor though.

One of the greatest decisions of my life was not to heed my parents' advice about staying close to home and instead making the trek over the mountains to UT. I haven't regretted it for one day. I think they quickly got over it themselves as well. Everyone has to make the decision that is best for them though.

If you just went off this kids twitter, youd think that this kid was already committed to UGA... IMO he's either a dog in his mind and just hasn't committed yet, or he's just toying with the dogs so he can commit to another school so he can revel in all the attention

not sure if you read this, but here is part of an article about kamara's visit to UGA.

A few days ago, Kamara came down with the flu. What had him feeling down and out might have actually helped the Bulldogs in their pursuit of the talented offensive weapon.

“I had been scheduled to visit Clemson for a month now and all of the coaches had expected me to be there, but I got sick with the flu and had to cancel,” Kamara said. “But then on Saturday my mom said she wanted to go up to Athens since it was only 45 minutes away.”

It was definitely a pleasant surprise for the Georgia staff.

“The Georgia coaches wanted me to visit Saturday, but were not expecting me so when I popped up around the corner Mark Richt saw me and was, like, 'Alvin?' And then he was all excited that I made it,” Kamara said. “Then I went into the running backs meeting with Coach [Bryan] McClendon and Derrick Henry (Yulee, Fla./Yulee) and he was not expecting me either, so he was pretty excited when I came through the door.”

Henry has been committed to Georgia since last July, but the 6-foot-3, 242-pound running back’s presence on the Bulldogs’ commitment list hasn't deterred Kamara from considering playing for the defending SEC East champions. In fact, he thinks the two could do very well together.

“I feel like me and Derrick Henry could do some good things in that offense,” he said. “In the SEC one back cannot carry the entire load, so we could be that 1-2 punch and make big things happen in Athens.”

Kamara and his mom were in Athens for only a short time Saturday, but the highlight of the day might boost Georgia’s chances to sign the top in-state running back.

"We went out to the field and watched the pregame video on the JumboTron, and then when we went to eat lunch I got to talk with Mark Richt with my mom for 45 minutes,” Kamara said. “We talked about everything from academics to football, and life, really.”

Kamara’s mom took advantage of the time and put the Bulldogs’ head coach to the test.

“My mom asked Coach Richt every question in the book," he said. "She was grilling him."

One question in particular stood out to Kamara.

“She was like, 'If Alvin came here, would he play?' and then Mark Richt said, 'Heck, yeah, he would play!' and I had to laugh,” Kamara said. “My mom was laughing too, though, so ... she was happy with his response though.”

According to Kamara, it seems Richt and his staff have earned the support of Kamara’s mother, possibly including her blessings to stay in-state and suit up in the red and black.

“Last week was the first time my mom got to visit a college with me, and she loves Georgia,” Kamara said. “She wants me to stay close to home, so she definitely loves Georgia. Of course I am going to listen to my mom’s input, and she says, 'At the end of the day it is your decision, but I would understand if you went to Georgia.' ”

This one will be a roller coaster but we'll see what happens. I think UGA is in it more than people think we've just got an Ace in the hole with his homeboy on the team.

We ain't gettin this kid imo. No offense MZTERRY. I hope we get him, but it sounds to me like he is all over the Dawgs.

He's keeping his options open. If we have a good year then we are in the drivers seat cause uga depth at rb is tough and ours isnt. We have a crappy year he has uga, and whomever else to fall back on. Simple and smart.

Any coach can tell momma that her son will play. She didn't ask him if he would play as a freshman. So, while Richt wasn't lying, he probably wasn't fully answering the question, because Alvin's mom didn't ask it the right way. Yeah, he'll play...maybe on special teams as a freshman, or he may get red-shirted and play as a RS freshman or sophomore. He will definitely play at some point in his career, but at Georgia, he won't be playing early at RB the way that he wants to, because of the quality depth at that position. At Tennessee he will play some at RB as a true freshman, because unfortunately we don't have an elite RB on our roster like Alvin. Georgia has 3 and if Henry signs, then that is 4.

As I've said before, I don't think our "ace in the hole" matters that much.

Well, Georgia will certainly need to make good use of his running skills (as well as their thirty other 4 and 5 star backs) on their way to another trip to the Commode Bowl.

Depth chart will not be an issue. He already stated he had no issue with UA already signing 2 RBs in this class not to mention the 2 5 stars in front of them. He said he could see himself playing with Tenpenny and Jones in our class.

I honestly believe he will play at UGA and do not think CMR was just telling the mother what she wanted to hear. Not saying he did not over play it but he owuld not be offering a scholarship unless he thought the kid had the skills to see the field.

I know that it isn't an issue for him. U missed the pt of my comment. I said he was keeping uga and other schools (including ua) on him so he doesn't screw himself over if UT has a bad season and the current coaching staff is gone when '13 NSD comes along.

I'm not saying UT gets him no matter what but if we have a solid yr and CDD is on the upward direction then UT would be the team to beat cause our depth chart isn't as tough as uga and ua.

I believe UT has a lot of top recruits keeping us on their radar based on how our season goes. Goes well, and CDD gets Hart to come out with strong public support of him (extention or not) then we will be sealing up these top guys. If it's a bad yr (firing of CDD or not) then we will still have issues signing these top guys.

Just Imho that's all...
