You've still yet to answer mine, you tried to provide a comparison to Butch Jones but now appear to be backing off that?

I said yes the ones that tried to commit and we wouldn't accept had what would be considered high major offers.....that wasn't my point anyways.....it was just showing how coaches give offers but won't let guys commit.

So Butch's non commitable offers are better than Tyndall's you're saying?

The better question is, why does he have any type of offer commitable or not? This is a horrible offer. Nothing can be said to make it anything but a bad offer.

I said this with the previous coach, and I had high hopes it would be different this time. NO MORE PROJECTS!!!!!!!!!

Or maybe a typo?

JucoRecruiting: Wed 07:17pm Nebraska and Cal St. Bakersfield were at Walters State today to watch Brandon Walters (6'9/F/2015). Tennessee St. was in to watch Alex Hicks

Folks, the two things this recruiting class needs are a true low-post Big Man and obviously a PG. I don't understand how folks think UT has enough Bigs ? The only Big Man with size to compete against the Kentucky's and Florida's is Dominic Woodson and who knows how long he will be in Knoxville ? That kid bounces around more than my ex-wife--Badabump !!!

If DT is going to Walters St for recruits, then he's in project mode, much like the former coach, which means nothing has changed recruiting wise. 3 stars and projects do not equal championships.

I disagree. When Mears began his coaching at Tennessee, he recruited Danny Schultz from a small Jr. College in Madisonville Tn. Schultz was an outstanding guard and was a main clog in Tennessee winning basketball teams for Mears. You get players where you find them.

Not to derail your point but times are a little different now. Brandon Walters isn't a guy you'd want to use your 3rd scholarship.

Its really very difficult to project what exactly the needs of this team are going forward until they play some games. Obviously I would agree that PG and a big are needs but Walters may fit CDTs style as a guy like Justin Pride at PG as well. Without seeing some games I just don't know. I do think he has done a phenomenal job to get the roster where it is after CCM left the roster barren!!

I understand the challenges with this roster CDT faces. But the roster is better than what CCM would have been working with had he stayed. That much is pretty undeniable. I don't think the Vols will finish last in the SEC although I hope Woodson is eligible and can help this year. That might be the key. I just don't know yet and neither does anyone else. The Vols have 6-8 Top 150 player types on their team so I don't see how anyone would have them finishing last in the league unless this is as strong of a league in basketball as football (NOT!). I believe they are middle of the pack around 8th maybe 9th and I think if Punter is the answer at PG their backcourt is going to be very good.

I, personally, don't disagree with much of that. You may be being a smidge liberal with the 6-8 top-150 ranked players talk, but as for the expectations, I agree. No one knows at this point, but it is safe to assume we won't finish last.

My earlier comment was a tongue-in-cheek reference to something else entirely.

Last time I saw Walters play he was slow and out of shape. Couldn't keep up. That is NOT CDT's style.
